You don’t need the rest of the sentence :) I was sad when the game went back to Buck and Co. The wrinkle on tv replay being out for a while is a new one.

I have to admit that I called it a night after the 10th, but so far this WS is delivering in the crazy events category on and off the field.

This part stood out among the rest! Erin Andrews was interviewing Chris Young and the camera guy zoomed way in on his head, almost filling the whole screen. And he was filmed completely from the side too, not the usual 3/4 view when he’s capturing both interviewer and interviewee. Very bizarre. Then he finally zoomed out near the end but was still getting Young fully from the side, like the camera guy was one of many just hoping to get something he could use.

Ditto here. Why does Harold Reynolds even have a spot in the broadcast booth? He just spouts inanities filling up any possible moment of silence. And worse than adding nothing to the broadcast, the nonsense detracts from watching the game. It was wonderful to have the MLB international feed while lasted.

I turned on local Mets radio and muted Fox. It was a dick move by the Mets to play until 1:30 AM and then lose!

Reynolds is pretty well suited to 2-3 minutes of talking about game highlights or the latest trade moves. He’s absolutely horrible at color commentary for 3+ hours. Unfortunately, it seems whoever is making personnel decisions hasn’t figured that out.

I intend to continue muting the FOX broadcast, and stream the ESPN radio feed instead. Dan Schulman is great, and Aaron Boone is palatable (though I’d prefer Mendoza or Sutcliffe or Braden). And they had Chris Archer on again for a inning, which is just awesome. I wish him all the luck on the field, but as soon as that’s done, he needs to get in a broadcast booth ASAP.

I wish Cuddyer would retire already so he can get in a booth. He’s going to be awesome if he goes that route.

Game 2, here we go. I thought I’d have to choose between the game and the debate tonight, but the debate is only for those who subscribe to that tier of cable. So no switching back and forth tonight. It’ll be all World Series and all Witcher 3, all night on the Xbox One, sharing the screen.

Looks like Bud Black going to the Nationals. Hopefully a good match for both sides. Bud Black gets out of mediocrity and has a chance with some quality players.

Yeah, I think Bud Black is a good manager who deserved a chance not in SD. I was dumbfounded when they forced Bochy out so they could hire Bud Black. I didn’t want to see Black go, but any manager who gets to the World Series in San Diego is one of the best around, IMHO (and has been proven by Bochy over and over and over again).

Very stress-free second half of the game tonight as a Royals fan. Royals come from behind again.

Nice of them to finish before the witching hour this time.

Alex Anthopoulos out as Blue Jays GM. Resigned fairly abruptly today after refusing an extension. Guess he decided that he and Mark Shapiro wouldn’t be able to play well together.

So there’s that.

Well, I’m wrong.

I can’t say that I’m surprised. My understanding is that Shapiro was going to be much more involved with personnel decisions than outgoing Jays president Paul Beeston. I’m guessing Anthopolous wanted to maintain his current level of autonomy on those types of moves.

Just announced as MLB Executive of the Year. Awkward, but he won’t be out of work long. Some local rumblings that Ross Atkins, Cleveland’s VP of player personnel makes a lot of sense to follow Shapiro north of the border as the new Toronto GM.

Whatever happened to waiting until after the World Series to make all these personnel moves?

Donnie Baseball is sleeping with the fishes.

Jeffrey Loria isn’t bound by your petty rules.

Anyone notice Buck get noticeably annoyed with Reynolds last night when he kept going on and on about the (correct) safe call at first?

Well, we know what happened now. Apparently two things.

  1. Shapiro criticized the prospects the Jays gave up at the trade deadline as something he “wouldn’t have done” and then
  2. Originally offered only a 2 year extension to Anthopoulos, where the 2nd year was an option. Which is essentially saying “Screw you.”

Jays owners said to be unhappy, and that’s putting it mildly.
