MLB 2018 - Hope for a 7-game WS so they'll play on Halloween

Yep, of course it does. I wish we could get rid of saves altogether as a fantasy category. Or at worst, maybe lump them in with holds, just so it wouldn’t be such an aggravating thing every season.

My league does S+H instead of S for that very reason. And 8th inning setup men are way more reliable than closers for that role on my fantasy roster.

I heard about that yesterday. Didn’t he do something mentally stupid last year that cost him some time?

I tried to talk a league I belonged to several years ago into adding holds as a stat. They didn’t like the idea. They didn’t like a lot in fact and I moved on. Big money fantasy leagues make guys paranoid about change.

I threw my back out sneezing while in my 40’s. I am in better shape now.

Suddenly, the reason behind Dayton Moore’s anti-porn crusade becomes clear.

When even your scoreboard operator has given up on the season.

Looks like the scoreboard got hacked. :)

This seems pretty significant.

I agree, it is shocking that yahoo sports still exists.

It’s good to see that the MLB and MLBPA can work together on issues like this that have such a negative impact on the lives of so many young aspiring players.

There’s no way that MLB and the MLBPA give two shits about corruption in the Mexican League, so there’s some other less-obvious (well, less obvious to me, anyway) motive here. It’s certainly not about caring who’s getting paid off in the third world countries they’re mining for talent.

Bartolo Colon won his 244th game, making him the all-time wins leader among pitchers from the Dominican Republic. That led John Shea to write an interesting comparison between pitching today vs in the Koufax/Gibson/Marichal era.

Digging deeper into Marichal’s career is a fascinating journey. In fact, my favorite all-time stat is Marichal had more complete games than wins. He had 30 alone in 1968, seven fewer than Colon has had in his career. That year, Marichal had 19 straight starts of nine innings or more, two lasting 11 and another 10, a span in which he posted a 1.43 ERA. Let’s not forget the 16-inning win in 1963 in which he threw 227 pitches.

The guy just keeps pitching. That’s his most impressive feature. Dude is 45.

The evolution of Mad Max Scherzer. This is just cool to watch.

I would like to see who swung at this pitch very much

Heh. Probably hit the bat while ducking out of the way. The bullshittiest of strikes.

They’re strike threes though, so maybe Adam’s scenario with a pitcher batting and ducking out of the way as he’s stuck the bat out? Or a wild swing by a lefthanded batter.

Maybe he ducked out of the way, the bat tipped it, and the catcher caught it. It could happen!

Maybe it was a hit and run and the batter was swinging at anything.

Ah yeah, this seems most likely, the image of the batter is a bit misleading.

Yeah, this is my take on it. Batter in the other box swings to cover the hit and run.
