I can tell you that the animation style, skill-bar based combat, occasional bugs, and engine performance do not change the further you get in, no.

Nope, you don’t get anything for being a previous subscriber.
There’s a big difference between “not GW2” and “an Xbox game from 2004”. The game is far from mediocre looking, in fact it’s one of the better looking MMO’s on the market.
I thought it looked quite nice with some good looking locations

The biggest issue I have with the game now (appart from the lack of anything rewarding those who subbed for months) is travel time and being unable to pickup quests.
I should probably head back to the entry area of Egypt and quest my way from there though, I got too caught up with doing the Storyline and had to skip so many quests. Looking at where they were though there would be a damn lot of running back and forth to do them all… not sure I cba.
Best part about the Egypt, and the fact that there’s an ingame browser, is that I find myself not only using the ingame google to research the quests… I started some wiki’ing on the different names and references they use in the game… This isn’t just a good story-based MMO but a learning one :)

Like I said, some spots look nice, but most don’t.
So now for something completely different. TWS has addons! Which ones are worth getting?
Well, you do get -something- for being a previous subscriber: you already own the game so don’t have to buy it to play, and have all the progress you made in the game previously. It’s hard to see what else would make sense to give you when they’re not locking anything in the game away like a free to play game would. You didn’t pay that monthly $15 for bonus points in the store or free monthly items or an xp accelerator. You paid for access to the game, which you got. It only makes sense to me to compensate active subscribers (who paid for access to the game that’s become free during the period of time they just paid for) and lifetime subscribers (who paid for lifetime access to a game that’s now free to access).
For much of my travel I kill myself (type /reset) and pick a spawn point closer to where I want to go.

Which is just a ridiculous thing to have to do, and something we’ve been doing since beta. Funcom should just make instant travel a feature and charge a fee for it like GW2.

Whoa…I JUST discovered decks. Neat little mechanic, I must say.
I just rerolled my character as I was obviously screwing too many things up. The ability wheel is definitely NOT intuitive.
Can you respec at any point in this game?
Razgon
1769
Well, you just made the rookie mistake ;-) there is no respec and no need ever to restart a new charter. Your currrnt can earn the needed points for new abilities faster than any new character ever could. And there is no limit to ap’s so stick with what you got :-)

Don’t the three factions have different stories? Or is that really just in the beginning?

Razgon, you okay!? Oh God, he’s having a stroke! I’m just glad he answered my question before he keeled over!
Joking aside, thanks. Now I just need to decide between Illuminati and Templars. I like the backstory and look of Templars, but I really like the Gunslinger deck the Illuminati have.

Sorry - it was from my stupid phone :-)
I meant that your current character can learn anything you need - No need to ever restart a character.
Razgon
1773
Not really - they are the same with a small window dressing of difference once in a while.
So is there actually any difference between factions, other than the starting area and pvp purposes?
Razgon
1775
as I said above - not really.
Ah, OK.
It takes me forever to type on this goddamn tablet :-)
Razgon

Hah - I know the feeling :-)
Is there a server qt3 is on? 15 bucks isn’t bad so myself and Mini-Cyn are going to try TSW out.
The only thing that your choice of server (home dimension) limits is the Warzone part of PVP, which is probably only worthwhile nearer to endgame anyway.
No matter which dimension you pick, you will still be able to interact with everybody else in the game in chat, groups, guilds (cabals), dungeons and the other parts of PVP.
Just be aware that there’s a bit of grown-up language and concepts being bandied about in this game…
