When someone is doing that, I camp myself in corner where they are likely to come by and equip the shotgun and wait for them. After 4 or 5 straight deaths they’ll quit that class or quit altogether. That lightweight commando class doesn’t always work and they can be easily discouraged.

I don’t get it. Did people actually expect good things for the MW2 map pack? Why?
The CoD 4 map pack was a pathetic joke. Killhouse was an amaturish first-attempt by someone who just loaded the map editor for his first time. Creek is an absurdly terrible sniper-fest. Chinatown and Broadcast are good, but not great.
Why did people expect MW2’s only 3 new maps in this map pack to represent any sort of level design excellence that the CoD 4 map pack most certainly didn’t have?

Well, all three of the non-Killhouse maps were better than Bloc, so it was an improvement.

Eh?
Killhouse was not even a map. So I always think of the CoD4 set as 3 maps for $10. Broadcast was a great map. Creek is really damn good too. Chinatown was pretty weak. If they just released Broadcast and Creek for $5, I would’ve been very happy.
I like that the new maps were integrated into the regular game type selections but hate how often they are selected over the old maps right now. I’m all for putting some bias on the new maps because they are, well, new, but the bias is way too high currently.
I’m still pretty much meh on the new maps (which are all new to me as I wasn’t a COD4 multiplayer), still hoping they eventually click and my problems with them are just unfamiliarity… probably wishful thinking, though.
CCZ, have you noticed what happens when you don’t have the map packs and the maps come up? I bought the pack, but many of the group I play with are not going to be buying them, and I am wondering what will happen when we try to play ground war tonight or tomorrow. Let me know if you have seen what happens.
Depends on how they handled it… I think WAW just dumped whoever didn’t have the maps out of the group when a new map came up.
I THINK 4 just didn’t have the new maps come up if someone in the group didn’t have them.
Don’t remember, but, it was annoying.
In 4 it matched you with people who had the maps only. If you had grouped up and had a friend that didn’t have the maps then the maps would never come up.

One awesome thing about BC2 over MW2 is that you can just select whatever map you want to play and it’ll only look for games on that map.
Everyone I play with has the maps so this never came up. I would assume it does what Nawid says COD4 did.
It would suck if it just threw people out of the game if they didn’t have the maps, especially considering new maps are selected to be played like 90% of the time right now (seems like). Besides, MW2 already does enough random throwing of people out of parties just due to network bugs and shit, so god forbid they should add even more of that.

I just bought BC2 yesterday. Played it for 5-6 hours and now MW2 feels cartoony. Is there a support group I can attend?
Ok well I played with that group last night, and it actually only searches for compatible games with other parties that do not have the map pack. As soon as I started playing by myself, it searched for groups with the map pack, and I got in a game quickly.
So, to their credit, as strange as it sounds after all the fuckups, infinity ward is handling the matchmaking/playlist integration with the new maps really, really well. I am very pleased. I am not very pleased about the nasty influx of lag the first two nights, which, as my boy Tejbz says, has given me serious AIDS and led to at least two rage quits (and an inexplicable instance where my 360 just turned off. No RROD, no power surge, just turned off. Awesome).
So far I still don’t really care for the new maps, though I messed some kids up on Storm last night. Prestiging with double XP is TONS of fun. I hope I can make it through this current one before it ends. I wish they would extend it another week.
They suckered me into buying the new maps with Overgrown, one of my favorites. Not really feeling the three new maps, though.
anyone check out the Mapathy trailer for the Stimulation maps? It’s pretty funny. It’s on the live marketplace
the previous map packs for both those games didn’t hit the general playlists for several weeks after they came out. There was much bitching each and every time. People quickly get sick of playing the same 3 maps again and again even if they are the new ones.
Well, they are already integrated now, and it works surprisingly well. Can I ever expect to play with you again Sir Harkness?
MW2 for free, on Steam for the weekend, multiplayer only.
Interesting I had notice that the multilplayer an single player appear has different games on steam stats so I wonder if they are considering selling them as separate products after this weekend.
That is effing fascinating pyjamarama. I just now got a new pc (well, comes tonight) and I am a huge 360 MW2 addict; I think I’m pretty good at it. Anyways, I have been really curious to see if the same skillset translates to PC-I know for instance people say quickscoping is super hard on PC.
I will definitely be downloading this to play. There is just a free client on Steam?

I hope this means the game will be on sale over the weekend.
Usually they twin those two together but if they haven’t made the combined announcement by now…
