I was so severely disapointed in the Stimulus map pak that I’ve deleted it! I’m not buying this new one unless I hear everyone repeatedly say how amazing it all is.
BTW, I’m still having serious issues in finding rooms that are <50ms. Is it just me? I’m 360.

No, there’s a new pack out. Three new maps plus Strike and Vacant from CoD4. Still 1200 moon dollars.
Moved on. Starcraft 2 is where I humiliate myself now.

Yeah, I was referring to the new pack. What are they calling it, Resurgence? (The first was the Stimulus pack).
They should be calling it the Sinking Ship map pak or the Shark Jump map pak.

I broke down and bought Resurgence of course. Imagine my surprise when the new maps i have played were actually quite good. I really like Fuel and Trailer Park seems like a nice hectic map. Haven’t seen Carnival yet. Vacant is one of my all time favorite maps from COD4 so it was nice to play it again, but they have done something to the lighting that seems odd, especially indoors.
Just saw a TV ad for this, during the hockey game. Why?

Getting constant message spam while playing this now. People offering prestige lobbies in exchange for MS points. Pretty annoying. On the bright side, just tore off a 33 streak and got my first nuke. I’ve been playing more lately to try to get my overall k/d up to 1.00 (got off to a really pathetic start when it came out and it bothers me to have such poor stats); going 47-6 is pretty helpful for that.

I always report the spammers. But there is a lot of it nowadays, yeah. I would really like a function where you can forward the offending message to the Xbox Live mods. Maybe they can pull them off the servers?
Finally played MW2 since a copy came with my Radeon 5870. Just finished it this morning and I think it’s arguably the worst game I’ve played in quite some time, possibly years. The gameplay hasn’t evolved one lick since the early CoD games:

pushing through each mission simply requires driving forward via a combination of sprint/crouch so that your brain-dead companions do likewise. Until you do so you get the same, tired endless flow of enemies as you did damn near a decade ago.

too many missions consisted of following a NPC. This took all player involvement away from the gameplay. Instead of having any choice in how I approached these mission areas, I was instead required to follow along, stopping when told, hiding when told, shooting when told, etc. Very journeyman design IMO.

the graphics, while passable, look dated. The Christ statue in Rio looked like something from a N64 game. . .guess we weren’t supposed to look up during those missions. I don’t usually hang my enjoyment of a game on its graphics–if I did, Thief 1 would’ve been uninstalled within minutes even back in 1998–but for some reason MW2 just had this look to it that bothered me. If I had to take a guess at what exactly was bothering me, I’d say the lighting was too flat throughout the game. I came away feeling like IW was just phoning it in, which is probably unfair since console dev-ing and its limitations is most likely the real culprit here.

the story. Where the f*ck do I start with this? My god, if they hired professional writer(s) as I believe I recall reading last year, IW needs to demand its money back. That was the most insipid, Clancy-wanna’-be piece of drivel I’ve experienced in years. I’m sure on some design page or storyboard the idea of CONUS being invaded sounded really cool, a rather obvious homage to a really crappy 80s movie, but the narrative required to enable this fell flat on its face for me. And how many f’n missions did I blaze through dozens of enemies only to be felled by a single pistol shot or knife wound? Paste me with a 50cal and seconds later I’m rejuvanted to full health, but when the story requires it a single shot to the head ends the mission. Oh, but it was to the head! Well, then I guess dozens of high-caliber rounds to the torso makes sense. And the death quotes from the likes of Rumsfeld and Cheney were very poor decisions on IW’s mgmt’s part. With all the historical figures to quote from, they use lines from these two. . .one arguably the worst SecDef in America’s history and the other a key driver behind the use of activities by America that are portrayed in the game as techniques belonging solely to the ‘bad’ guys.
All of your complaints and many more are absolultely true, but MW2 is still the best value for any game I’ve bought in the last one year span because I still play the multiplayer all the time. Single player was just an extended tutorial of the different weapons available for me.
Up to 6th Prestige now, with a 1.31 k/d ratio. Still prefer the M16/AA12 combo as my primary class, but also have some light machine gun and runner classes I use on some maps.
Yeah the multiplayer is the purpose. I didn’t buy map pak2 but I still play nearly everyday. Only prestiged once, 1.79 k/d ratio and a 1.57 win ratio. I like me ScarH and M1014 set up the most.
I don’t know if I’ll have the same job as I do now or be working at all, having gone back to school. I don’t know if I’ll be with the same girl as I am now or living in the place that I am or driving the same car. But one thing I do know with strong certainty is that I will be buying the next Call of Duty.
