That timing is frustrating, in that the Christmas break is the ideal time to binge on MHW. Ah well.

I’ll probably double up because I don’t think i’ll be able to wait until jan 2020.

PSA: if you haven’t logged in for a bit, make sure to do so before the end of august. There is a special log in reward celebrating the 13 million copies shipped. It includes an attack gem. Make sure you get it!

Time to dust this thread off. Just two more days until (console) Iceborne! I’ll be on the PS4 with a hot drink ready to go.

(PC gamer here)

Oh man I feel ya. I socked about an equal amount of time into both the console and PC versions, much prefer the PC version, and I would love to be the type of person who could wait for the PC release, but sadly, I am not. There is no way I have the willpower to last another four months.

Yeah, time to mute this thread.

My group will only play Thea 2 right now. It’s partially, wholly my fault, but in my defense, MHW lack of pause makes it a challenge. I am confident we will play this again in the near future though and an expansion will be in my future… problem is… which version PC or console.

I think PC is the best version of the game. It is a system chugger though.

I like the PC version just fine, loads a lot faster too but there is something remarkable about sitting in my recliner just doing quests with randoms. When I play PC I almost always have someone playing with me and they haven’t grown into not worrying playing in a PUG. I keep assuring them it won’t matter. I’ve never met a more forgiving groups than the MH players. Largely they don’t seem to care all that much if people screw up sometimes. But yeah they’re intense fights, so after the kids are to bed they currently like slow games. It will be great though to get back into it.

I will by this expansion, eventually.

Totally. The way I’ve kept the game alive for myself during these months of waiting for Iceborne is to answer SOS flares. Usually late at night after I’ve finished playing whatever I’m currently playing. Helping randoms complete tough fights against Kush or Vaal is a joy.

I’m not very far in, I just completed the expedition to set up the 2nd camp in the forest region. I think there were two quests before that which I completed. I’m kinda interested in seeing how they make the monsters behave differently in combat. This last one liked to try and do some rapid-fire pecking. I liked when he picked up a rock to try and bock my shots.

The combat feels a little like Dragon’s Dogma to me, unless I’m just not remembering that correctly.

That’s the reward of the game to me. You get familiar with the monsters, and what at first may have seemed annoying or terrifying becomes endearing. As the combat gets less frantic because of your getting used to it, you can notice personality glimpses from the little movements they do here and there. From battle to battle, it goes from hunting to playing a ballet with a gigantic, deadly pet, and the game obviously knows how rewarding this is as the progression is based upon twisting those expectations.
Well, of course, some beasts stay terrifying, no matter what…

Monster Hunter talk makes me so happy.

You on PC or console @robc04 ?

I’m excited to finally dive into this for real! It’s been in my library taunting me since shortly after launch, when I found that it was a slideshow on my PC. But now I’ve spent a couple months hopelessly enthralled with MHGU, and have built a blazing-fast new PC so I’m looking forward to seeing how the series has evolved.

I’m on PC.

Pretty sure we’re friends on steam, so if you run into any trouble or would like a helping hand, hit me up.

I can’t be the only one jumping out of my pants with excitement on Iceborne day.

Or I suppose everyone plays on PC.

I haven’t been reading reviews or monster lists or what have you, but a few things have slipped through my blackout, and the stuff I’ve heard about (including endgame) has me hype to the max.

Can not wait to get in there this afternoon.

OK, thanks!

I’m saving my excitement for January 2020. ;)

I am bitterly waiting for the next four months. :)
