Okay, I’m tossed up, as I’m not a technical smart guy like most of you.
I’m in the market for a monitor, as I’ve found that my current viewing size isn’t enough. However, I’m looking for a relatively inexpensive solution, as I am a college student.
It’ll be used for watching movies, and playing 360 on. I’ve got sound figured out, so that’s not important.
However, I would prefer to keep price below $150 (I can go a bit over, but not too much), and these are the ones i’ve been looking at;
The Acer - I’ve heard of Acer before, so its not an unknown brand. Is this worth the price?
The Samsung - Samsung is a pretty popular brand, and I’d have to assume that their monitors are well made enough to my standards.
Anyone have any thoughts on these, or potentially any other monitors? I’d prefer it to be in the 19-20" range.
I don’t have experience with either of those two monitors, but I bought the Acer 2016WBbd (20" widescreen) from NewEgg last year & it’s worked just fine. It doesn’t seem to be listed on NewEgg any more.
I’ve watched amateur videos – not that kind, course-related content – but no feature films, & I use it as my PC monitor; no current-gen console.
Hmm. Its a bit more expensive than what I was looking for, but from its description it looks nice.
Acers have poor longevity and their QA is way below most other companies. Given the choice between Acer and anything else, I’d go with anything else.
Okay, i’ll keep that in mind. So would the Samsung be a better choice? I’ve also looked at the Asus monitors, and they seem to be pretty good too.
Skimming Techbargains’s LCD deals, I see you can also get a Hanns G Hi-221DPB for $160 or an ASUS VW224U for $150 after rebate (plus shipping). Couldn’t tell you if either of them is any good, though.
