Nah 2 years of data tell me they were already an invincible juggernaut before that game. Not to mention that missed long FG was after they put up 17 unanswered points in the 4th to win. They beat the 2nd best team in the country with a C- game. TCU had no chance after that. They beat 7 teams ranked in the final 25.
UGA has now won 33 of their last 34 games (17 straight) dating back to 2020:
- Average win: 4 TD’s
- Opponents: 12 ppg avg
- Beat rivals (badly)
- Won an SEC Champ
- Won a Natty
- Sent a team to the NFL
- Now a 2nd Natty
- 15-0 this year
Ok, I’m done gloating :)
That was a crap game though for anyone not a UGA fan. The announcers were at a loss the whole second half on what to talk about. It was amusing. “Can we just go to the post game show now?” as the post game promo is running “But there’s still 7 mins to go.” Never seen anything like it. :)
Yeah, that’s my kind of Georgia game. I was a student there when we won the championship (old version) for the 1980 season. That year, coming off of 1979’s disastrous experience, was an adrenaline rush but had a lot of heart-stoppers. Like the Florida game where it took a near-miraculous Buck Belue to Lindsay Scott TD to win, or where Herschel Walker (back when he was just a soon-to-be legendary running back and not a sadly outrageous candidate for the Senate) had to come in as a freshman to get us a win over Tennessee.
I much prefer blowouts as long as we are on the up side of the score. Sad, but true.

Early to mid 90’s for me so you got me beat old man! Though I was born and still live in GA so I had Herschel jerseys growing up. Much to the dismay of Dad and Uncle who played for South Carolina and Auburn respectively.
Give me a blow out as well, I’ve had my fill of almost/shoulda/coulda/wouldas for the last 40 year prior to this run.
From 1990-94 I was a Ph.D. student at Georgia, and from 1995-97 a visiting professor. I got the “privilege” of teaching scholarship athletes in intro American History classes. It was…illuminating.

I had Geology 101 with a handful as well. They all sat in the back row and slept the entire time except one guy taking notes. I think he was one of the Jr equipment guys and not even a student or a grad student. I will say they never missed a class but I also never saw them take a test so yea looked like solid A’s.
The Athletic Department by that time had got their stuff together after NCAA investigations and all so that they made sure players actually went to class. Beyond that, though, it was totally dependent on the student. To be fair, in a lot of cases, teaching a 400 person gen ed lecture class to a bunch of largely unmotivated undergrads at a big state university, it doesn’t matter much whether they are athletes or not. The number who actually paid attention was slim. And really, I don’t blame them. That format was horrible. Easy to teach for me, but terrible for any learning.
Clemson just fired their OC and poached TCU’s OC.
Oh, and Big 10 Commissioner Kevin Warren is expected to be hired as President and CEO of the Chicago Bears.
I’m thinking this is not sustainable. Florida got a decommit from their QB prospect after his $13 million(!) NIL deal fell apart.
Remember, schools can’t offer NIL deals. Third parties offer them. So third parties are going to blow tens of millions each year on recruits when they are getting none of that sweet TV revenue in return?

How many bridges you wanna buy?
CJ Stroud has yet to declare for the draft, perhaps because of a potential NIL deal. If he doesn’t declare, the hopes of the Seahawks being able to sit at #5 and having a qb fall to them take a huge hit.
Yeah, though sadly I’m not shocked, really. Young men, parties, cars–it was dangerous when I was at UGA, and it’s dangerous now. Very sad though, puts a real damper on things.

2:30 am after the Championship parade? Yeah, I would not be shocked if this turns out to be an alcohol related accident. Its pretty likely they were driving back from an after party. They must have been going quite fast as well as it was reported that they hit multiple trees and utility poles. Horrible thing.
He declared for the draft today (1/16)
Appreciate the heads up. I think it would have been potentially a huge blow for the Seahawks if he hadn’t.
NIL money’s nice, but it ain’t got nothing on Top 5 NFL draft pick money. Signing bonus for the #5 pick is expected to be $22 million.
And it’s possible you can cash that into a second QB contract at a still young age, leaving time and room for a third contract before you’re 30.
I fully expect Chicago to trade their pick. Stroud could easily go #1, so that signing bonus could be as high as 27 million. And yeah, you’re absolutely right, the big money is the next contract.
Based on current info, I think three of the first four picks are going to be Stroud, Levis, and Anderson. Depending on how far down Chicago were to trade, three of the first four picks could be QBs, or it could be two and two defensive players (Arizona and Chicago, e.g. if Chi dropped back to #4). While I don’t want Young, I think either he or Richardson will be there at five (or even better, Levis instead of young). If Stroud hadn’t declared, they could have been sitting there at 5 with all the top QBs gone.
Thought this was pretty interesting:
Also per the article, litigation is likely…
