Is it me or did Ohio State forget that there is a Safety position in football? Every big Michigan TD was like the RB or WR got past one guy AND THERE WAS NO ON IN FRONT OF HIM FOR 70 YARDS.

OSU sold out to stop the run, and it cost them over and over.

OSU’s secondary was… not good today. There’s getting beat on your coverage - which happens - and then there’s getting beat so badly there’s no defender within camera shot.

So am I right that if Purdue wins they play Michigan next week?

I believe so.

Oregon really threw away the game. Proof that always going for it on fourth down is not sound strategy.

Oregon was up 31-10 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. Oregon State won, and did not throw a single pass in the comeback.

Insane.

Maybe ND comes back, but is it just me or do they look like they run a high school offense.

So what happens if a 3 loss LSU beats Georgia?

Georgia probably falls to #4, but no way a 3-loss LSU still gets in.

LSU is done for. A 3-loss team isn’t going to make it. Georgia is a lock now (they probably were anyway), and the 4th slot is USC’s to lose.

Pretty sure Georgia and Michigan are both in regardless of what happens in their conference championships. Both are undefeated in the regular season, so it would be strange to penalize them essentially for having to play an extra game compared to one of the possible teams that could bump them out (would Ohio State really bump Michigan? Would Tennessee/Alabama bump Georgia? Both seem absurd to me). This should apply to TCU as well, but they’re a ‘lesser brand,’ so I wouldn’t stake money on it. Likewise, no way a three-loss LSU gets in even with an SEC Championship. I doubt either UGA or UM falls below number three if they lose unless it’s ugly.

The more interesting question is who gets in in place of USC should they lose their conference championship.

Yeah, that was an awesome game.

Yesterday sure made things a whole lot easier on the Playoff selection committee. As the only 3 undefeated teams left, Georgia, Michigan and TCU, they are easy picks. With USC beating a resurgent ND they are most likely the 4th. Since there will probably be only a single one loss team on the outside looking in, that being OSU, one of those teams would have to face plant in a major way in their championship games for the top 4 to change. The most vulnerable team is obviously USC. If they get a second loss that opens the door for either a one loss OSU or a 2 loss Alabama to sneak in. Knowing the committee’s hard on for Bama, I would guess that Bama would get the nod over OSU. Anyway all 4 of the probable top 4 teams pretty much have their destiny completely in their own hands. And unless either Georgia or Michigan lose in an extremely ugly fashion, I think they are probably a lock. TCU should be in the same situation, but if they stumble against K-State in their championship, I can see the committee knocking them out. They simply do not have the same national clout as either OSU or Alabama. Now if total chaos reigns and both TCU and USC get beaten, I am guessing that the final field would be Georgia, Michigan, OSU and Alabama. And that would be both a dream and a nightmare for the committee. A dream because of the clout of those four teams and their marketability and a nightmare because it would piss off a whole lot of other teams and fan bases. I still think the final 4 is pretty much set but a little chaos could go a long way here.

David Shaw resigned as head coach of Stanford. Program has been on a downward trajectory for a while now.

Wow.

Huh. With Cinci moving to the Big 12 and all the shuffling there and in the B1G I don’t know if that’s even much of an upgrade for him. Higher ceiling and more conference money I suppose?

He turned down Notre Dame last year, too.

Big 10 West is a disaster, so it could be seen as an easier path to the conference championship.

Nebraska did hire Matt Rhule yesterday, too.

Yeah, the divisional aspect makes some sense… until USC and UCLA join in '24. Regardless, it’s a good hire by Wisconsin.

He has history with the BIG as well having coached at OSU.

Official.
