Beyond the huge influence on scheme, Leach had an impressive coaching tree as well:
At least three major COTY award winners in there (Dykes, Aranda, and, uh, Briles).

Why is the Cincinnati QB wearing shorts? Several players are. Those are the shortest pants I have ever seen football players wear.
Why the hell did the Guaranteed Rate Bowl between Wisconsin and Oklahoma State kick off at 10:30PM ET?!?!?!
It’s not a weather delay. The game is being played in Arizona.

All the games were on ESPN and so they followed each other.
Yeah, I get that. But I can’t imagine those ratings are that great. We’re talking a solid 60% of the country is in bed by that time on a Tuesday night.

I have no idea how Bowl games are profitable for anyone. The schools in these generic named bowls lose money, ESPN probably gets programming but they pay somebody for it. Ratings have to suck.

Not seeing the rest of the days schedule, that time slot feels about right for two teams hovering around .500

That was really the closest thing to an attractive game yesterday.
And therein lies the problem with Bowl Season.

Live football games still outrate any other programming. Even these lousy bowl games.

They do probably outrate ESPN’s regular programming. I mean football fans will even watch the USFL (or whatever it is called now) during the summer.
They probably do. But a kickoff at 10:30PM ET? It’ll probably outdo everything else past 12 AM, but still do a lot less than if kickoff were, say, at 7:30 PM ET.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Pac12 after dark scheduling!
I’m a Washington grad. I’m well accomsted to P12 After Dark. But that was due to necessity. The Pac-12 has to compete against all the other CFB games on Saturdays, and their network partners parked their games into the late night timeslot. But that was also okay because those audiences were on those time zones. 7:30 PM.
Last night kicked off at 9:30 PM local time for the two teams involved: Wisconsin and Oklahoma State, which are both in the Central Time Zone.

TCU winning didn’t surprise me so much as Michigan’s lack of defense. The pick 6s were the difference.
Now I will root for the Bulldogs.
Michigan really shit the bed.
The dumbest play calls on offense and defense ( how.many cover zero blitzes can well run). The execution looked like we were only running plays/coverages we learned in the last two weeks.
Oh well. Hard to stay angry when you know those kids are having a real tough night after that loss.
For the record, I’ll be rooting for TCU next Monday no matter who wins tonight. Time for some new blood in the BCS.
It’s still early, but tOSU up by 14. If they advance that had to be a nightmare Michigan scenario.
