So it seems.

Although I prefer LGM’s headline: “Unable to find a safe space, dapper white punching dummy abandons college tour”. (Which is where I found the quote in the first place.)

Compared to running a fascist for President, running a nazi for representative in a no-win district is small beer.

Then again - if there was any doubt about the nature of the modern GOP…

I’m confused about the “denounced by his party” bit. The Republican party has no control over who runs under their banner? That seems wrong.

And if they did approve of his run, then they can’t claim they don’t support him now.

IIRC, the only say the party has is who can participate in the primary.

So you’re saying they are completely to blame for this then?

He ran unopposed, so… yes and no? They’re likely constrained by the rules they made, not expecting this situation.

Please punch him.

LOL. Maybe.

But expecting a Nazi to run as a Republican in 2018 requires little foresight. :P

True enough, lol

He’s run before. He just made it through the primary this time is all.

They should have known. The GOP has no excuse and must fully own this. That said the local gop did send out a flyer on who to vote for, and it did say do not vote for him, he’s a neo Nazi.

Who knew that not taking a stance against white supremacy might actually lead to literal Nazis in the party. I’m sure the GOP will try to weasel their way out of this one and be surprised that their members will vote for a Nazi over anyone who is remotely liberal after decades of propaganda calling the other-side the devil.

Darn! Gosh! Gee Willikers! We definitely didn’t mean to sign off and do the paperwork on this guy being allowed to run in our primary. It just slipped our minds while we did the work necessary to get him on the ballot. And the work where we told our voters about his views and not to vote for him. He just slipped past us and got himself on there. Shoot!

Maybe they definitely knew and are curious to see how things play out. Possibly testing if they should go full Nazi in other areas too?

Now, I want to be clear, when it comes to punching Nazis, we strictly mean people who have come forward and admitted to being a Nazi, correct? It seems in other threads, there was a but of confusion as to who was to be punched or not, and the criteria.

I am all for punching people who are open about being a Nazi (well, other people can do it, I have small kids), and although I would not be too sad if many members of the GOP were also punched, I am not in favor of calling people a Nazi and then punching them.

That’s just a result of the conservative talking point that liberals will call anyone they disagree with a nazi combined with liberals saying they want to punch Nazis.

I’m not saying there aren’t exceptions, but I believe we are primarily (if not only) talking about guys walking around sig-heiling and wearing swastikas and shit. Or, you know, saying that whites are the only people who belong in the ol’ US of A.

Yeah, as far as I know, I’m the only one on the boards who considers anyone who’s voted for a Republican candidate since, I dunno, Nixon to be morally equivalent to a Nazi.

I give a pass to folks that also punch people in white supremacist organizations as well as Nazis.

Well, I can’t say I saw this coming.

Haha, I was acquaintances in one of my grad classes about 15 years ago with an older gentleman who had decided to come back for grad school later in life. With an election looming, I asked him about politics and who he was voting for. He said he hadn’t voted in a while, because the first and last person he’d ever voted for didn’t do so well. I pushed a little and he admitted it was Nixon. :P

If I ever see that dude again I am going to shake his damn hand.

The ONA requires members (called Noctulians) to spend six months either hitchhiking, working as a burglar, working as a police officer, or infiltrating an extremist political group.

You’d think most places would weed people out like this but… nope. We see it time and time again what some cities and unions will allow to work for them.
