Well despite popular belief, the people fight for equality, voices for the unheard and etc. can make mistakes. Sure some will use it as some singular example of what so many fear is happening everywhere, despite that largely not being true, but we can’t let that stop everything. Maybe they’ll reflect on the difference between this “case” and others and see the difference.

Agreed. But when you are in charge of one of the cornerstone groups advocating for equality, though it may be unfair, you do have some responsibility to be judicial with how you spend your influence. Do not let public opinion cause you to abandon what is right, but be certain of your actions is all.
