I’d argue 50 years ago most folks didn’t think it was racist. Folks in the US didn’t really start seeing blackface as racist until the 80s I think?

I’m willing to give passes to things that aren’t cool today but were accepted in the past. If I didn’t I’d prob have to cancel myself, and much of the over-40 crowd on here would have to do the same. I’ll do this even if the politician in question is particularly twisted, such as the governor of Alabama.

I doubt that. It’s an explicitly racist thing to do. What most (white) folks thought 50 years ago was that it was okay to do racist things. It’s like segregation, back-of-the-bus, whites-only public facilities. It was all explicitly racist, but explicit racism was acceptable to those folks.

Beau is a good person and not remotely Alt-Right. He fucking HATES those people.
He’s pretty hard on cops as well.
