Strike a pose.

A ‘celebrity chef’ here in Australia with a history of paleo crap, anti-vax, MAGA, conspiracy theories, recently posted this image to social media:

which features the neo-nazi black sun symbol. It was the last straw for many of the companies in business with him, so a good ending to the story!

Very edumacated.

The punchline is brilliant and the look on his face is priceless. It couldn’t have been scripted any better.

LOL. Let the snake eat its own tail.

It didn’t work in marriages, and it never was the abused partner’s job to prevent the abuse by surrendering ground and rights and voice.

People still ask for it, demand this, even here. Over, and over and over again. And when you push against them, they get pissed, like how dare you say no followed by well you deserve racism then… deserve the abuse. Imagine someone they deserve to be treated as less than human because they didn’t like how you stood up to them.

Great read! Thanks. I enjoy her writing a lot.

This is spot-on:

What do you do with people who think they matter more than other people? Catering to them reinforces that belief, that they are central to the nation’s life, they are more important, and their views must prevail. Deference to intolerance feeds intolerance.

So while we criticize the NY Times and Washington Post for all those Trump diner stories, we also have to ask why there’s a market for that content because it obviously draws eyeballs and revenue.

Greed.

It’s enough to make you think that human greed is a weakness in a capitalist system.

I really like Solnit’s comparison of the roles Republican and Democrats play in America to an abusive marriage. Heidi Schreck made a similar, excellent point in What the Constitution Means to Me.

For fuck’s sake, just put women in charge everywhere right now.

There are women out there that are just as bad if not worse. They too often get a pass. There were not just a few women involved in pushing those confederate statues or trying to pretend like plantations are historical sites of paradise instead of the locations of some of the most inhumane monstrosities this country has ever seen on our soil.

Okay. I just want the confrontational alpha-male shit out of politics NOW.

I get what you’re saying. I just keep wondering where these alpha males are because that ones I am seeing couldn’t intimidate marshmallow fluff.

:)

Yes, this. So very much this.

Not sure where to put this, but lump Ricky Schroeder in with the Pillow Guy and Scott Baio:

I’m tellin’ ya, washed-up 70s and 80s celebs are the fallen angels in the Hell of Trumpism. Big spending habits, big appetite for attention, little income, attention only for how far they’ve fallen. They’re like Rust Belt citizens believing the steel plants will come back, plus they were famous when Trump was young.

Heh. I like that depiction. It’s like Kirstie Alley got tired of people talking about her being a Scientologist and ping-ponging on diets and decided to give them something else to talk about.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them, being rejected for part after part, also decide that it’s liberals in Hollywood squashing their careers rather than their own lack of talent. Ricky Schroeder is no Will Smith.
