As a former evangelical fundamentalist member of the charismatic movement and staunch Republican, nothing in that piece surprises me. It sent chills up and down my spine, because these people are not going away, and if in the next handful of years they glom onto a smooth political operator this country, with their assistance, could very well slide right down into full-blown fascism. You can see the groundwork being laid for it.
