That may be accurate. The current tide of racism, including Trump’s election, seems very much like a backlash to the election of a black man as president, and to the general acceptance of diversity. (Of course, they mean it’s his ‘fault,’ which is nonsense).

It’s really a reaction to demographic change - the country is creeping towards “majority minority” and has been for decades and decades (I remember people talking about it after the 1970 census.)
