Any word on why The Original Series Season One is missing, and if it will be showing up at some point?

Not.

Awesome movie, great direction. I remember watching it when it came out on DVD… and then watching it again the next day.

There’s a sequel… damn, only on DVD netflix… City Of Men.… anyone see this?

Night of the God Damned Comet. LOVED that movie as a kid.

It used to be available for streaming! They had the miniseries up, rather than the truncated theatrical version.

I have it on DVD (got it from a rental store closing sale) but haven’t watched it yet.

Watched Rubber - the psychic killer tire film - last night with friends. Wow. Just…hmm. Pretty sure that’s the most interesting film I’ve seen all year. Felt like a direct descendant of Repo Man or Liquid Sky…which I consider to be high praise.

Also, Death Note:

That may not be a new addition, but I watched the first ep, it’s engaging, and it’s subtitled! No terrible english voice acting, which is the bane of netflix anime.

I’m really digging Intelligence, aka the Canadian Wire. Such a shame there were only two seasons.

Whoa whoa whoa, this is on instant watch now? Awesome!

The Avengers animated series was surprisingly good. Certainly not at the same level as JLU but solid.

Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead - I absolutely love this film.

Agreed. A good solid series, a little overly focused on action, but that’s not really a bad thing.

Not to mention that they did really well voicing Iron Man. Very close to RDJ. That helped a lot since he’s my most recent exposure to the Avengers cast.

Kids are completely hooked on Avengers. But even they agree that JLA is better.
But, best Marvel animation since the early 90’s.

Just watched The Naked City. It’s an early police-procedural/noir from 1948, directed by Jules Dassin who would be blacklisted and would go on to direct Rififi in France in the 1950s. This is not as good a film as that one, but it’s enjoyable. It’s shot entirely on location and provides a remarkable window into New York City of the 1940s. The lead character – a wry, savvy older chief of detectives – seems prototypical for your standard CSI-type lead who wisely guides his ensemble of dedicated investigators. The tone is Olympian rather than grim, with a healthy dose of humor. It doesn’t present New York as a bleak wasteland – rather, as a thriving, living city in which crimes happen to occur. The climactic chase is a corker, with some stunning scenery.

Now I’m watching At Long Last Love, Peter Bogdanovich’s nod to “white telephone” Hollywood musicals of the 1930s. It’s a bit like Pennies From Heaven, but less ironic or dark, at least so far. I enjoy the brainy craftmanship Bogdanovich brings to his direction, and 1970s Cybill Shepherd was a serious dish.

I liked A Shock to the System with Michael Caine, similar story. Not sure if it’s on NF though.

I just watched The Saddest Music in the World, which has been sitting in my queue forever. And now I am kicking myself for having ignored it for so long. On the face of it, a musical melodrama wouldn’t be my cup of tea, but this movie hooked me. Some of it was the dash of Lynchian weirdness. Part of it is the dark sense of humor. And part is the irrepressible Mark McKinney attempting to win a contest to produce the saddest music in the world with a little of the old “American razzle dazzle” (purchased entirely on credit). I loved this movie.

Is it sadder than Adagio for Strings?
