You will love it even more as it goes on - the show just kept getting better for me right through the last episode. I’m really psyched about the next season WHENEVER that comes.

The show, while great, are slightly different from the books (i.e. Bob is a talking skull, not a human-looking ghost), but the books are fucking awesome. The episode with the murderer who used storms to add power to his magic was lifted mostly from the first book, however.

If you liked the show, I’d totally recommend trying the first book, Storm Front.

Edit: This is in response to Joe’s post on The Dresden Files.

My favorite was “Bump in the Night,” and also the one where Bob gets brought back to life.

I was surprised a bit at the end when I actually got peeved that Bob didn’t get some sort of karmic boost from his selflessness, sort of Constantine-style. I didn’t realized I’d been that involved with watching.

Man on a Mission: Richard Garriott’s Road to the Stars. Watching it now.

Didn’t know Sergey Brin had put down a deposit on a Soyuz flight.

Drive went up this week, for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.

Awesome. Thanks for the heads up.

The wife and I watched this last night. Longest music video I have ever seen, but I really liked it.

Intriguing label. The only mainstream movie I’ve seen up to now that I labelled similarly was “3000 Miles to Graceland”. It starred Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner, but that wasn’t important. I don’t even remember what the story was, but I do remember it being one long music video, and really enjoying the music video. The other movies I’ve seen that I first labelled “longest music video I’ve ever seen” was Kooyanisqatsi and it’s sequels, and Baraka (made by the Director of Photography for Kooyanisqatsi). Both Kooyanisqatsi and Baraka are incredible btw. I wish I could find them again somewhere without re-subscribing to disc-based Netflix.

Watching these this weekend, in between sporting events and computer gaming. It’s been a while since I read the books, but from what I remember this is a better good translation. Got through 3 of 6 so far, really liking it. I think it’s better to have read the books, though, as I caught myself a few times wondering what the hell was going on until my memory of the books kicked in.

I’d like to recommend Confessions of a Superhero, which I watched earlier today. It’s a documentary about the street performers who dress up as superheroes outside of Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood and pose for photos with tourists for tips. Sometimes funny, but often quite sad and surprisingly affecting. Who would have guessed that some of these people have a lot of issues?

Ayup.

+1 internets for you, sir.

Seconded.

I’d recommend Bunraku. Crazy movie with Josh Hartnett and Woody Harrelson. Very interesting style to it that reminds me a lot of a cleaner Tarsem. I’m showing it for my movie night tomorrow.

I am new to this whole netflix thing, just signed up. (Canadian version)

So I can only use it on 6 devices, right?

What if one of those devices is through a different IP address?

What is the minimum number of streams at the same time? (looks like it is 2?)

What happened with Netflix and Starz? Did they kiss and make up?

(sometimes googling isn’t very effective… since a whole tonne of old links give old info)

The Starz Play thing is over. I still max out the 500 title limit for the queue so it doesn’t bother me any.

I thought it was only 4? Either way, it doesn’t matter, because when you go over, all that happens is that you have to activate the device again by noting down the number/letters and typing them in online at their website, and that activates that device and deactivates the one used farthest back.

No Starz, but it didn’t bother me, I only lost 6 movies from my instant queue, and none of them were must-see movies for me. They still have a LOT of material, at least in the U.S.

What if one of those devices is through a different IP address? (ie. someone else’s house?)

what does Netflix do?

I’ve used Netflix streaming at family homes in completely different states, among other things. As long as you’re not trying to use the same Netflix account in multiple locations at the same time it’s no biggy.

what happens if this happens? do they ban your account?
