watched a movie called warrior’s way. in the qt3 thread about it, there was this quote from someone:

I’m guessing that it will be terrible.

i say, YOU ARE WRONG SIR.

assassins. cowboy bandits wearing steampunk goggles and gasmasks for some reason. circus freaks. sharpshooters. explosions. lois lane. stylized slo-mo killings(like 300 and immortals), only done well and with some fun added. even the baby actor was surprisingly good (she reached out, laughed, did all sorts of things on cue).

funny, lots of nice, interesting looking camera shots, fun sword killings. i really liked it. will watch the director’s next movie.

I just watched a short series called I, Predator. I loved the way they went through the way the animals were engineered by evolution for their roles, and seeing how they (appear to) think.

Except that evolution doesn’t engineer anything. (Sorry for nitpicking biology talk).

Russelmz, thanks for the recommend on Warrior’s Way. Fun film.

I was home sick with a kick-ass bug last week and watched a British show called “Apparitions.” I thought the acting was good in it and it did a really good job of creating a dark and paranoid environment. Different people will take different things away from it because of the religious backdrop, but I found it pretty well done, if amazingly moody.

The premise is that a Vatican miracle-hunting priest is also an exorcist, since an alarming number of “miracles” turn out to be very non-divine in origin. The demons, it turns out, are on the move, planning some big temporal event, and our priest gets stuck right in the middle of things.

The series runs six episodes and is only the one season.

Netflix UK has put up a crapton of David Attenborough documentaries in the last couple of weeks. And a bunch of Louis Theroux programmes as well. Great additions.

They added The Gray today. Looks fun. Wolf punching.

It is not fun.

Agreed. It is, however, awesome if you’re into downbeat existential meditations on mortality.

-Tom, who is

Under no conditions should anyone watch the british miniseries “The Last Enemy.” My wife likes Benedict Cumberbatch, so we ended up wasting 5 hours on tired themes and pointless buildup.

To the Ends of the Earth (also with Cumberbatch) is pretty good though, and got me reading the William Golding novels.

The Roseanne roast is up as well. Pretty bad as such things go, but the first minute or two of Gilbert Gottfried is sublime.

The commercials tried to convince me I’d be seeing something along the lines of The Ghost and the Darkness. What I got was more akin to The Old Man and the Sea. I didn’t hate it. I just went into it with much different expectations.

I just saw it. I thought the trailer I saw for it did it justice. The movie was pretty much exactly what I expected after watching that trailer.

Good movie. And yes, there is a bonus scene at the end of the credits btw. I was kind of thinking there had to be, but I really wasn’t sure. So it was the first time I remember ever anticipating the end of the credits so eagerly as they rolled by.

Whoop! Season 4 of Damages just showed up!

Series 2 of Sherlock is up.

I’ve been watching Eureka on streaming. It was kind of a fun popcorn show until season four, then i got confused. We left off on season 3 with Carter’s girlfriend headed for Australia but them wanting to work on the relationship. Then season four starts a year later, saying that previously we had seen them break up and a few other things I never saw. A search of Netflix didn’t show me any other related Eurerkas. Did I miss something?

You did not. Season 4 starts a serious left turn for the show from which it never returns.

Saw the season 4 Christmas show. It kind of took me by surprise, and was really cute.

I liked season 4 a lot. Still need to watch the final season. That said, I LOVED the season 4 Christmas show. Made me tear up, it did.

When is season 3 of The League going to be up? Damn!
