Without knowing anything else about the movie in question, that’s one of the funniest movie summaries I’ve read in a long while. Thanks for the laugh.

Maybe I’m the evil doppleganger, the ‘v’ symbolizes a goatee, but I was more ‘meh’ on it. Some of the funny dialog just didn’t have the right timing on it, and the lead in general, lacked charisma. The tone in it tended to waver too much, I wanted it to either actually be comedic, or actually serious, instead of having fleeting moments of each. It also had a bunch of mostly dead weight scenes. The way it opens, then the start of the story with the basement both seemed unnecessary.

I cannot recommend the book highly enough.

Not that anyone here probably missed them but caught up in Netflix Streamaggeddon was a metric ton of Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder show compilations. This was a really big deal at my house, as it might be for anyone with young children. I am happy to report that it seems that most of them have gone to live at Amazon Prime Instant, which saves me having to go to extraordinary measures so that my kids can watch them again.

Heh, I actually do have a goatee. Which of us is evil?

But yeah, it was kind of a series of vignettes, some more comedic, some more straight horror, so I can’t disagree. I was entertained anyway. I may have to check out the book.

I scroll past it every time I’m on Netflix, but never payed any attention to it. Your Naked Lunch analogy tickled my fancy, good sir.

Added it to my list. Thanks.

The Angry Red Planet. Yes it’s cheesy 1950s sci-fi, but it’s more. The effects are pretty good for the time. And different than any other movie of its kind. I think it’s a classic.

I just saw The Courier. It made me think st Harry Dean Stanton, while a great actor, is going to peak with The Comedian. He was totally able and fine on this, it was just the tired script. But competently done.

It is awesome, the movie is ‘ok’ the book is just fantastic and the sequel is also really really good.

Agreed. There was probably 2/3rds of the book left out of the movie, but honestly, I don’t know how you’d film those parts.

Examples given
David finding out that one of his friends who had been with him throughout the story was erased from reality.

David finding out that he’s actually a clone of his dead self in the shed
I absolutely loved this story even before it was a book, when it was a web series. I haven’t ever made any effort to see the movie for those very reasons, that so much of it was probably going to be left out. As it’s on Netflix, though, I may have to give it a go.

I would recommend seeing the movie if you were a fan of the book; they really did as best as they possibly could given the source material and budget, and it’s certainly worth the time, even if it’s somewhat incomplete.

Kill List is the best horror film to come out on Netflicks since Lovely Molly.

Someone besides me saw Lovely Molly? I love that penultimate scene in that movie.

What with the forest god? Yep, really great, and one of those films that are best seen cold.

Looking forward to his stuff in VHS 2, which is supposed to be waaaay better than the first, which was pretty disappointing tbh.

Not sure if anyone’s mentioned it before (and I’m not about to travel back through 103 pages of a thread to find out), but I just noticed that The Last Circus is still available for streaming. I simply cannot express how fantastically twisted, fun and disturbing this film is.

And yet, there you go with a spoiler.

Look, just because Tom decided to quote my post, and not one of yours there’s no reason to be salty.

And forest god, what does that mean in contextual terms? It’s just a euphemism for al fresco sex.

What the hell?

Well, I’d be pretty irked if I’d read your post before watching the movie, Captain Najork. Fortunately, no one probably even remembers what movie we’re talking about.

Thanks for the heads-up on Last Circus, hepcat! I was talking to another horror nerd recently and he mentioned Last Circus director Alex de la Iglesia. He recommended Day of the Beast, but that doesn’t seem readily available. I’ll have to check out Last Circus.
