DON’T WATCH IT. It is dumb.

When did Dexter jump the shark? I watched up through the season a few years ago with Julia Stiles, and that wasn’t great, but it wasn’t actively awful. Does it go downhill significantly from there?
I think season 6 was the worst on its own merits, though season 8 gets extra credit for a colossally bad finale and really undermining what little characterization it had left, as well as what looked briefly like an improvement in season 7.
Here’s my view on Dexter so far:
Season 1: A
Season 2: A+
Season 3: B
Season 4: B+
Season 5: C (Julia Stiles)
Season 6: D
Season 7: A-
Season 8: I’m only 4 episodes in, but A- so far. But I hear it really goes downhill towards the end. But we’ll see. I’m trying to go with a fairly open mind, since I’ve stuck with it so far.

They’re doing you a favor. 4 is a good place to stop.
Correct, though 5-8 will go up soonish. December, maybe? I can’t find the article that announced it.
Seasons 5-8 will go up on streaming 1/1/14. Hurrah! (I stopped at S4, too).

Now I wish they’d get Homeland.

I now have this odd desire to hear someone do a rocked up remake of Der Kommissar.
God help me, I’m rewatching Chuck.
I’m watching the last season of fringe now. I’m on episode 4, and not really feeling it.
It gets better at the end, though there are about a million reasons I would totally understand for not beings satisfied with it. Ultimately I was happy with it, and it’s at least good enough that you might as well finish it and make up your own mind.
I watched the 5th episode this morning, where Peter starts getting his rage on. I can see where it may be turning more intense very soon.

I watched this and enjoyed it, but the end was way, way to gory for me. I think I am losing my taste for gore as I get older. Though I don’t generally enjoy horror movies for that reason. Great acting by Mad Eye Moody though!
Okay, still not to the end of Fringe, but several more episodes in, I’m now engaged and interested again. I’d warn people going into the last season that it’s a slow start.
When did Skyfall appear on Netflix?

Within the last two weeks or so.

Wasn’t aure where to put this as it’s on Amazon Prime, not Netflix, but:
Amazon Prime now has the complete DC animated series stuff done by Timm and friends in the 90s. To wit:
Batman: The Animated Series
Superman: The Animated Series
Batman Beyond
Justice League and Justice League Unlimited ( I think…those are definately on Netflix though)
That’s hundreds of hours of some of the best superhero stories ever on screen. Catch 'em while you can! Loving the old Batman series, and even Superman holds up well.
Awesome! I own all the Batman: TaS, I’ve seen most of the Justice League, and been catching up on Batman Beyond on Netflix, but I never got around to acquiring or watching Superman: TaS. So that’s excellent news.
Watched Solomon Kane streaming last night. Had some hopes for it when i saw the cast (Antony from Rome, the Borg Queen, etc.), but it was just a sort of middling Inquisitor/demon hunter movie. It didn’t put me to sleep, but I wish I’d been watching something better that night.
