After seeing Guardians of the Galaxy this week, sit down and watch the fantastic space opera Harlock: Space Pirate. I loved the anime as a kid, and the movie is a pretty decent CGI version.

I just finished watching Particle Fever. Very interesting, almost like watching a science fiction movie. It is about the construction of the Hadron Collider and the search for the Higgs particle. The physicists did a good job of explaining everything including particle theory.

I saw the new Harlock this past weekend. I thought the animation was very good. The story was a bit weak, though.

I probably give it more leeway because I grew up on the anime. But I enjoyed it. It was a bit long though.
Just watched Harlock tonight and I thought is was good fun.
The new Cosmos got added a few days ago. Now I’m really glad I only made it 6 episodes through the Season on Hulu Plus. Watching on Netflix with no commercial breaks is just so much better.
I love the new sub-theme of the new Cosmos, which is to highlight not only scientific knowledge in a particular episode, but also the scientists and historical figures who played a key part in the discovery. LOVE IT! What a great show.

Yeah, but then it turns into a crusade for global warming. Bleh! No thanks. That killed it for me. I stopped watching it when he got on that rickety soapbox.

Governor Palin? On Qt3? Cool!
I just saw the global warming episode last night (Episode 12). It is definitely a unique take on the issue. A big picture perspective, about how humans have dealt with much bigger adversity before and gotten through it, so this should be a piece of cake, especially with the abundant energy that the sun is shining down on us in a single hour.
It’s such an optimistic take on the whole issue, I’m not even sure what to think. In the here and now, when you look at current U.S. politics and the gridlock we’re in, it just seems impossible to conceive how the U.S. will do anything big ever again, let alone solve problems like this on a grand scale. It’s hard to be comforted by the bigger picture when you don’t see how on earth the bigger picture will influence the politics.
Watched this recently; I can understand why someone could like it but not my cup of tea. Too much anime cliche with the dark, brooding antihero. Just couldn’t bring myself to like any of the characters.
That by itself isn’t a killer (ex: I don’t like either main character in Breakfast at Tiffany’s since they’re both quite despicable but loved the film anyways) but in Harlock I just wanted all main characters to die.
The animation and style was awesome so there’s that. But overall Attack on Titan is a much better anime fix.

Did…did someone just bring up Breakfast at Tiffany’s while discussing a show called Harlock: Space Pirate?
Best…post…of…the…day.
There are people out there actively supporting global warming? What, they refuse to buy cars that pass emission tests, run their air conditioners year round, and spend their days eating nothing but beef in order to keep cattle production high?
And they all use charcoal grills, don’t forget.

You poor, blind fool. You posted that thinking those people were imaginary, didn’t you? Have you no understanding of the depths of human nature? Know you not of overarching narcissism coupled with “never shoulda given those idiots money?” I present to you sir, the anti-anti-global-warming movement:

I’m watching BoJack Horseman on Netflix right now. Surreal, crazy, and I’m not sure if it’s great or terrible yet. But that’s the beauty of Netflix. Sometimes you get sucked into crazy stuff, like a series about a drug-fueled horse in LA played by Will Arnett.
Got that in my queue to hopefully catch up on soon. I figure anything with Will Arnett, Paul F. Tompkins and Amy Sedaris has to be at least pretty good.

What’s this queue you are talking about? Some sort of external system, or?
I’m just talking about the “My List” function within Netflix. I pretty much keep that thing loaded up at all times so I’ve got something to watch for whatever I may be in the mood for.

The netflix queue has been around since netflix streaming was put in place, I believe. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it, Razgon.
I watched the first episode of Bojack Horseman Friday night and was decidedly unimpressed. I’m a huge Will Arnett fan (Running Wilde was an unappreciated comedy that should have garnered cult status like Community) too, so I went in expecting more.
It’s been part of Netflix since day one, even.
