Snowpiercer and Rocketeer are two standouts for me.

My wife and I like watching Lillyhammer, especially during the winter. Start a fire and watch till we get tired. I didn’t like the second season so much as the first one, but it has a certain charming potential.

A lot of people like Snowpiercer, though I haven’t seen it yet. Surprised to see it on Netflix so soon, to be honest.

I’ve noticed that foreign films (especially from Asia) make it to Netflix shortly after I see their release on dvd/blu ray. They must have some great deals with the distributors.

Yeah. From India, I’ve noticed all Yash Raj Films produced movies show up around the same time as DVD/BluRay releases. Unfortunately they don’t seem to have similar deals with other companies. I have seen some Reliant movies also show up on Netflix though, so hopefully they’ll keep adding more production companies.

It’s come to the point where when I see a Yash Raj films trailer I tell my wife “let’s not go see that one in the theater. It will be on Netflix in 6 months.”

I’ve made it through about 3 Bollywood films. Each time I was baffled by the plot. There’s usually someone who can fight really well, but he has to stop and sing about it while his love interest shimmies around him, then someone throws a boomerang shoe that knocks out 12 enemies at once (that last part may have been applicable just to one of the films I watched…I’d hate to think that India is cornering the market on flying assault footwear).

Snowpiercer was either a multi-format release (VOD, theaters, etc.) or fairly close release distribution given the nature of the movie and the way they wanted to market it. Beginning to see this more and more these days.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is coming to Netflix as a new series.

Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas is an unfortunately titled movie that turns out to be pretty good. I first watched it a couple months ago. It is about a horse merchant in… some part of medieval Europe who gets robbed by a local lord. Some stuff happens and BAM! You’ve got your uprising led by none other than Mads Mikkelsen. He is honestly the biggest draw of the movie (if you like him as an actor you’ll probably enjoy the movie). You’ll have to read subtitles, and even then the dialogue comes off as a little stilted. The pacing and style of action reminds me of something you’d see in No Country For Old Men.

I enjoyed it, but it’s more of a philosophical film than an action film. As long as you’re aware of that going in, it’s a good watch. Plus, how can you go wrong with Mads?

Yes, that is a very good point.

Just a reminder that Europa Report is on Netflix Instant. I’m watching it again tonight, and if you haven’t seen it, give it a shot.

“No one at home knows we’re alive.”

Thanks for the reminder. I had totally forgotten, and my list is now so long that it is a poor way to keep track of movies anymore. I feel like they need to add a queue on top of the list, which would be just 10 movies out of your list, so if you want to add something to the 10 movie queue, you have to get rid of something else.

Just watched it last night for the first time. Not completely sure what I think of it as a whole, but I’m glad I watched it. It’s trying to do something really interesting with the whole found footage thing.

Yes. That’s one of the things I love about it. The editing in that regard is just fascinating.

I loved it because it was an actual attempt at science fiction as opposed to the science fantasy that so many films try to pass off as such.

Except for the whole alien life form living under the ice of Europa, you mean.

The discovery of alien life is more of a Science Fiction idea than a Science Fantasy one. The Fantasy badge gets thrown out in regards to stuff like the Force, or other versions of magic that tends to infiltrate Sci-Fi movies.

Snowpiercer was goddamn WEIRD. Came in expecting a weird surreal comedy or something, given the ridiculous setting.

Then Captain America starts talking about how babies taste the best out if all human flesh meals. The axe room scene alone was worth it for the viewing. It was bizarre in a Bioshock/failed dystopia way. I kinda liked it.
