Netflix just emailed that The Interview is now available on Instant Watch.

Watched The Interview . Glad I didn’t PPV it. Mildly amusing.

Interestingly, they mostly make Kim Yung Un a sympathetic character.

I went in with super low expectations and I wasn’t disappointed. I liked it more than the second and third Transformers movies - combined.

I also found the sympathetic Kim Yung Un to be pretty interesting.

Same here. Low expectations, was very pleasantly surprised by how it was the movie equivalent of a page-turner. Kim Yung Un was a great character in the movie.

Adam Sandler’s first exclusive movie for Netflix?

Ridiculous 6 - The title being a play on Tarantino’s upcoming Hateful Eight.

According to insiders close to the project, Sandler will star alongside “Grown Ups 2″ frat boy Taylor Lautner, three-time Oscar nominee Nick Nolte, “The Voice” judge Blake Shelton and comedian Whitney Cummings, as well as Happy Madison regulars Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice, the latter of whom stole several scenes in “That’s My Boy.”

The cast is also expected to include Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Parnell and “Breaking Bad’s” Lavell Crawford, according to sources.

“Ridiculous 6” was previously set up at both Sony and Paramount before the project moved to Netflix once Sandler signed a lucrative deal to produce four movies for the streaming company. The production pact was announced in October, and more projects will be announced in the coming months.

Sandler next stars in Sony’s “Pixels” and will reprise his role as Dracula in Sony Pictures Animation’s “Hotel Transylvania 2.” He’s also a producer on Sony’s upcoming “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” and an executive producer on Crackle’s original movie “Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser.”

Not that Sandler has ever been too much of anything to me, but that recap of his latest project list is just sad.

All praise to those who profit from terrible shit, I guess.

It really pisses me off that Sorcerer, directed by Friedkin, is not rentable from Netflix anymore. It’s now in the "saved " area. Which means we don’t have it anymore and we don’t really care. A truly wonderful and savage movie. Fuck you Netflix.

I’m pleased by the knowledge that I’ll soon have all the unanswered questions I had after Paul Blart: Mall Cop addressed in a sequel.

Sorcerer is available in my library system. Have you checked yours?

Yeah, it’s on the DVD side. I think they cycle the movies in and out of the streaming side to keep things fresh. Or something. I have no idea why they do it that way.

I think for online/streaming stuff, they get licenses that expire and timeout and have to be paid to be renewed, while for DVDs, I think they just get X amount to use in circulation.

That makes sense. At some point the DVD is going to wear out or get scratched up and become unplayable. With streaming, it’s a different story. It would be nice to just have a huge library of films constantly at your fingertips, but oh well.

Watched a fantastic western last night. Although it was German…and set in the Alps. It’s listed on Netflix under its German name if you go looking for it, Das Finstere Tal, but the English title is The Dark Valley. It’s a tad slow, and I wish they’d avoided some of the music choices during more than one scene, but it’s a great revenge film set in an unusual environment that really works.

Just randomly saw a Top 10 TV series on Netflix list in my yahoo news feed:

Breaking Bad
Firefly
Dr. Who
Arrested Development
Twin Peaks
Mad Men
Terriers
Sherlock
Freaks and Geeks
Parks and Recreation

The only two I’ve seen from beginning to end are Breaking Bad and Parks & Rec. I still have one more Sherlock movie to watch, and I’ve seen the first 3 episodes of Freaks and Geeks.

So I’ve got a whole lot of watching to do. I’m surprised Dr. Who is on this list though. I saw about 4 or 5 episodes when the show was rebooted a few years ago. I thought it was terrible. Same with the Firefly pilot. (Though the movie, Serenity, was awesome!)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand you’re now dead to me. ;)

Dr. Who fan, I take it? (Or do you not like Serenity? I loved it so much, I actually saw it twice in the theater, something I rarely ever do).

I used to like Dr. Who as a kid, watching the old BBC show, with its low budget props and wild plots. I loved it back then. But the Christopher Eckleson reboot (or whatever his name was) seemed to keep the cheesiness of the plots, but lose a lot of the charm. I don’t know, it just seemed so cheesy.

I love both, especially Firefly, which is one of my all time favorite shows (the pilot especially).

As an aside, I’m thrilled to see Terriers on that list. Surprised West Wing isn’t there, though.

I don’t think Firefly’s pilot is something that can be appreciated on is own, just like The Wire. Definitely not for everyone but if you loved Serenity then it’s a crime not to give the series another go.

So should we have a memorial for Rock8man?

I will agree that the pilot for Firefly was the weakest of the episodes, but that’s pretty normal for shows. As for Doctor Who episodes, I loved Eccleston’s take on The Doctor. The cheesiness and intentionally poor production quality of the bad guys was pitch perfect for me, but I guess not for everybody. Things got slightly more serious as the first season wore on, but the show just kept getting better as far as I was concerned.

And yeah, I did a blitz of West Wing not too long ago because I hadn’t seen it in ages. It still holds up well, imho.

I did love a lot of the West Wing. Even toward the end, with Josh becoming the driving force behind one of the two candidates to replace Bartlett. I thought the show really recaptured what was great about the show. And I also loved how they got rid of Mandy with no explanation.
