Is it in Dubly?

Netflix Studios? Very interesting.

NBC’s Community Fans… well Donald Glover (Troy) fans may like Myster Team.

Yes. Very. Kevin Spacey and David Fincher.

I do not like the idea of Netflix making its own original content. As that link points out, it just drives its cable competitors completely away from ever allowing their content on Netflix. I wish they’d just offer tiered packages with HBO/AMC/Showtime, etc. Prolly won’t work logistically, but I’m in favor of them undercutting the cable companies. I pay way too high prices just to watch a few good channels.

Very fun movie. I really liked the Bad and the Weird actors.

I already don’t watch the shows I want to watch on HBO because of that cable bullshit.

The more Netflix strangles cable, the more likely HBO-grade shows appear online, individually available.

Give it to me.

Recommend me some good Horror and Sci-Fi that I may be missing and that are available on Netflix Instant. The ‘Movies like…’ seems to be all over the map some times.

Have recently watched and enjoyed Pandorum, Monsters and Lake Mungo. Also rewatched The Thing - still great. Saw District 9 and Paranormal in the theaters.

Found Dark Side of the Moon unwatchable; too little production value for me to take.

Don’t really go for the pure slasher or ‘torture porn’ type of horror much. More the supernatural/alien/scifi flavor. What are some others on Netflix instant I should take a chance on?

PS - Had no knowledge about Lake Mungo going in… what an odd little movie. Quite enjoyed it when it was done but even about half way in I was wondering why I was still watching. Glad I did.

I’m sorry for posting this a day after Netflix yanked Series 3, but The IT Crowd is definitely worth a watch. It’s a U.K. Channel 4 production, and later series won a BAFTA (that may be the wrong award, and I can’t be bothered to look it up).

It’s more of a traditional sitcom, following the adventures of two geeky IT workers and their cute (non-techie) boss. Somewhat surprisingly, the series turns almost as much on the escapades of the president/CEO and his son, which really hits its stride in Series 3 (sorry).

However, the first series is up, and since each series is just six episodes, you might be able to snag the intervening series via one or two physical discs to make up for it.

I’d also recommend Exam, a nice little locked-room mystery about, well, an exam, and District B13, a French parkour-fu flick from Luc Besson. Neither is perfect, but both are quite enjoyable.

Frankly, Netflix Instant strategy seems a bit like Moneyball, to use a baseball analogy: pushing users toward undervalued content that may not be entirely mainstream. I’m enjoying checking out foreign movies that I would normally not pay a buck to rent, just to explore how their directors and writers twist the traditional movie tropes. I don’t mind that it’s derivative; I’d prefer to tiptoe into foreign film. Dead Snow is another good example.

I liked the IT crowd but I don’t know why season 2 was never on there.

All the seasons have been on their at some point. Ep1 Season 4 is one of my favorite episodes of any show (may not work watching it out of context).

Holy mother of something, you have got to be mentally prepared for Antichrist before you sit down to watch that. I’m sure it’s the most disturbing movie I’ve ever seen.

The historical drama Agora is now up on Instant, and is good stuff.

I finally found the time to watch Black Dynamite last night and I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in ages. I felt in danger of rupturing something almost constantly.

Wow that was amazing. I almost died during the Nam flashback.

I’ve been wanting to see this. Hear it’s funny as heck, and I do love Troy.

day break, the series that’is like if the creators of 24 decided instead of realtime, to steal the timeloop mechanic from groundhog’s day.

I just finished A Prophet and I must say that it was an excellent flick. It is a French film about an 18 year old Muslim kid who gets thrown in jail for 6 years. The movie is 2.5 hours long but I never felt that it dragged because of how good it really was.

I am a fan of Don Glover and many of the people involved in that film as both cast and crew and I loathed this film so much.
