Part of that wonderful road to adulthood is knowing what you’re allowed to watch, and then watching the other stuff anyway.

Irrespective of parenting styles, that part of the Netflix service is still busted. The only work around is to sign the kids up with their own separate netflix account but then each streaming device is restricted to one netflix account.

Amen to that one, brother!

Lots of new stuff up.

Sorceror’s Apprentice, a sort of Harry Potter-esque magic fest with Doc Ock as the bad guy and Nic Cage as the mentor.

More cool Nova shows

And some old and bad Marvel series from the late 90s.

Harold and Maude, Topsy-Turvy, and The Golden Child in HD? Hell yeah.

The Wizard in HD? Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Some great movies were added. Every Patton Oswalt fan should see The Kid Stays in the Picture for sure.

But, hey, Sid & Nancy, Raging Bull, MST3K: The Movie, The Front Page, Safe Men, Maverick (surprisingly entertaining for a Mel Gibson flick)…there’s some good stuff in there this month.

Edit: Oooo, also The Funhouse, which creeped me right the fuck out on HBO in probably 1985 or so…I’m sure it’s terrible.

When I tried watching Sorceror’s Apprentice it was in 4:3. /puke

Ah, loves me some BaseKetball. The locker room scene alone is worth the price of admission.

H.

Agreed! This movie is far funnier than it deserves to be.

Kick Ass is on instant streaming now.

They’ve got the Play button all set up, now they just need to make it do something!

Wow! A major amount of TV shows dropped on the list today. I think some are renewals, but holy crap!
BSG
B5
Angel
Buffy
Xfiles
Airwolf
Incredible Hulk
A-Team
etc

Every time that happens, I look at my DVDs and cringe. And then I remember the Comcast bandwidth cap, and the potential that Netflix won’t be around forever, and I’m not so disturbed anymore.

You can always upgrade to business class which has no caps:

Yes, indeed, I could… Thanks for the suggestion. The lower-end package doesn’t seem that far off of what I’m already paying for residential service.

But it’s not like I’m in danger of hitting the cap now. If I had that, I’d probably just install more stuff from my Steam list.

By the way, The Asphalt Jungle and The Killing (both on instant view) make a Sterling Hayden-tastic noir double feature.

I had been on Comcast for years, but I just switched to FIOS in April (Internet only, Comcast still has a TV monopoly in my town) and the results have been fantastic.

I’d regularly got “bandwidth has decreased” messages in the middle of movies, or straight up poor quality streams with Comcast, and this has not happened once with FIOS. Whether or not this meant Comcast was still shaping certain traffic is unknown.

Also, Comcast claimed to be selling me 15 Mbps speeds but I never got even half that. With FIOS I am also paying for 15 Mbps, and I actually get 15 Mbps. It’s amazing.

Guess whose neighborhood doesn’t have DSL yet? Or FIOS, or anything like that? And with all the incredibly tall (100+ feet) pine trees, no satellite coverage, either. So it’s cable or dial-up, pretty much.

I wonder if it’s possible to get internet via Morse code

I would also like to add that I just ran Speedtest on my 4G android phone and I get 15 Mbps down, 7 Mbps up on that too.

My friggin cell phone is twice as fast as Comcast.

Anyway, anyone have good recommendations for UFO/aliens shows on Netflix? I’m on a UFO kick as of this weekend. I watched the Dan Aykroyd one, it was ok, but he basically just goes through the laundry list of UFO myths and says he believes in them all.
