Yeah… Not a good start!
Dave place it on C4 facing B4, double toughened.
I drew:
And did:
Hopefully my double-melee base can knock his double-tough spy out of commission.

Then, Dave drew:

Place 2 at A3 facing the HQ. Place 1 at E5 facing D4. Unusual I know! But that’s what makes me the banana.

OK! I drew:

And went like:

Dave draws:

On the bright side, I’m gunna have so many units at the end of the game… On the other hand, Dave will have the board all cluttered with his stupid units…

Toss the battle. Place 2 on C2 facing D2. Place 3 on B1 facing A1. Clutter!

I drew:

I hadn’t considered it, but I was giving your spy an additional attack phase! Let’s change that. BUMP!

And then Dave drew:

I don’t think that my spy was getting an extra attack phase. Doesn’t the gun have to be pointing at the module?

Nope. If the module points at a spy, he uses it.

Put 3 in D3 facing C2 and 1 in E3 facing D3. I think that points a 3 init at all empty spots!

You’d think I might know this, you know, after two years.

I drew:

I placed them like so:
I’m hoping to keep my 2 gent’s that are dealing damage protected until they can battle. Please please please don’t draw a rocket:

Phewf!

I can’t tell what is going to happen because my brain is bleeding.

Someone help me. I think that I should cause a battle by placing my units:

3 (sharpshooter) on D2 facing up
1 (+1 range module) on E4 facing up

At which point things will happen. A lot of my stuff will live and a lot of his will die?

Brain bleeds are very serious… The game can wait.

I honestly wonder what people think. If you’ve got the advantage heading into a battle – maybe not in terms of HQ damage but in terms of overall position – is it best to wait for the opponent to trigger the battle?

Problem is, I think we both have a sniper tile, and those things can cause the hugest amount of grief…

Tough choice! I’m glad you have to make it…

I would do what you suggested. But remember:

a) I suck
b) I’d do it because a full board brain bleed can be triaged by getting a lot of crap off the board, even if it’s possibly disadvatageous to battle.

I hear ya! Sometimes I just want the board clear so that tricksters like Clyve can’t do complicated things that their brains can process. That’s why I’m looking for a principle to follow, like “If after a battle you’ll have better position, and it’s still early, then delay so that your opponent is forced to battle.”

I laugh at your principle.

Hah hah!

Depends on the army. If you’re New York, play conservative. If you’re Nowy Jork, go crazy, THERE ARE NO RULES MAN.

That is a very good point as well…
