yeah I should look up to people playing WoW 10 hours/day.

btw, how do you know my name ?

Yeah, weird considering Todd made a point of saying enemies used cover just last week. Combat looked very uninteresting.

Surely you jest sir. You mean you missed quatoria’s rant about me going back to NMA? I think he also insulted my mom in that post. That’s just one. I’m in auto-skip mode when I see mud slinging now.

I think that was about you, not Fallout 3. Do you see the distinction?

Yeah, quatoria was basically saying that he thinks you’re a jerk, not that he’s too blinded by love of Fallout 3 to be able to hear anything else.

ElG is right; those are really not even remotely the same thing.

That’s pretty terrible reasoning. The only thing we can deduce from those statements is that he doesn’t really like you. They don’t say anything about what he thinks about Fallout 3.

Unless you’re proposing that being a Fallout 3 zealot is a necessary pre-condition for disliking you? I’m willing to hold off on immediately ruling that possibility out, but I think you need to fill in a few holes in the theory first.

Edit: beaten to the punch, but perhaps you’ll find my explanation edifying.

The video seemes pretty like i just imagined already. Good sense of scale, btw.
Funny enough, it seems to be underwhelming to lots of people on the net. I thinkt it’s because to the average gamer it seems like just a fps, but not a very good one. They aren’t thinking in “rpg mode”.

The problem is that you don’t have a basis for the grand generalizations you are making. While QT3 does have a tendency to jump all over people that take an aggressive anti-Fallout 3 stance, that’s kind of what happens when radicals like Draikin and the NMA fans have previously taken similar stances. That said, almost all the regular commentators here have expressed concern/criticism of some aspect of Fallout 3 at one point or another. The difference is that we don’t write the game off when we find a flaw and we try and avoid beating the dead horse on issues that were long ago decided by Bethesda. If you come across as still holding a grudge over those old issues, you will get attacked here.

Besides, for better or worse Fallout 3 is a heated issue on almost all the game boards I’ve ever seen discuss it. And it isn’t helped by the aggressive behavior of NMA folks who seem focused on trying to fight anyone anywhere that thinks Fallout 3 might just turn out to be a good game after all.

Hopefully they will think with the appropriate mindset when they buy and play the game, or it’s in trouble.

I’m not too sure about Fallout 3.

But I’m pretty certain that you’re a dipshit.

XBL trailer: explosive car, tentacles monster, zombies ghouls, vault thugs, robocop (???), supermutant behemoth, fatman … wow, I never realized how dumb it was by reading previews.

It’s /because/ the RPG Codex and NMA folks go to those other game boards and stir up shit whenever they possibly can. Why else would they consistently bring it up in threads completely unrelated to Fallout 3? :P

Yes, things that are awesome are also dumb… wait, what?

Imagine how much you’re going to hate yourself when you buy it.

I was a little … underwhelmed by the trailer, and I’m a big Fallout1/2 AND Oblivion fan, so this should have been pretty cool.

One thing I will NEVER be picking up for my character is bloody mess, that just made Todds trailer look… stupid. He shoots a guy in the head, and the guy lands on the ground missing arms AND legs. Riiiight. That makes sense…

The combat seemed okay, not that inspired, much like Oblivion. I was hoping VATS would add something, and it looks interesting, but not very fluid. Once the game starts up again it seems like the enemies are still shooting and it’s back to real time, only you don’t have control of your character while the attack animation plays out. Hmn… Also, I think that VATS attack animation might get pretty old after a while. I watched him do it like 5 times and I’m already NOT looking forward to it. Damnit. I was REALLY excited about this title, and I’ll still pick it up, but my excitement has cooled quite a bit for now.

Not to mention NMA trolls who inject Fallout 3 discussions in unrelated games…

Did you ever take it in either of the first two games? It was similarly nutty.

Most of the really gooey deaths look the same, the bodies shred slightly differently but there isn’t much ‘character’ to them.

Yeah, but it looked better with sprites. Then again, so does pretty much everything. sigh

I remember it being pretty enjoyable in the game, though I normally went for eyeball shots and the center torso would explode - which seemed all well enough.

yeah, the enemy would have a little stutter, it was played up for comedic effect. This looks more like Gears of War.
