I’m crossing my fingers for more robot or UFO encounters.

Ben, yes I thought he mentioned something about how your karma and the plot branches you’ve taken will affect the encounters you get.

I dunno, the combat seems on par with a game like Bioshock. Instead of an array of powers (most of which I didn’t even use except to solve a puzzle or two) you have different gadgets you can use (EMP grenades, crazy cobbled-together guns, etc). The VATS system allows people who suck at FPS games to have a chance at winning fights, and also allows anyone to be able to score critical hits on various targeted locations (I’m guessing you can’t do this without VATS, the damage just goes to a “general” location.)

Maybe in Fallout 4 where you have mutations you can then shoot some bees. I love shooting me some bees at people.

Howard says they’ve got random encounters when you wander the wasteland, and even mentions “any time we change anything we worry about getting shot” - so yeah, none during fast travel based on the video you linked.

See, I interpreted that the opposite way. They aren’t changing Fallout 1 or 2’s mechanism at all. When you wander the wasteland (walking or “fast travel”) you will get random encounters, because if they changed it they would get threatened by the dirty troll people.

Yeah, watching that bit again, I think you’re right. But since you have to discover locations on foot before you can fast-travel to them, I think that will be fine. It eliminates random encounters while traveling back and forth between known locations, but you do get them while exploring.

Reminds me I need to replay BioShock sometime before Clear Sky releases. Wrench + Stealth Tonic = Love. Maybe I can go Ripper + Stealthboy in Fallout 3.

Exept I dont post on NMA. Why do you try to rationalize and justify your hate ?

You’re right here, how much more rationalisation is needed?

Read your posts for examples of how unbecoming irrational, unjustified hatred is.

I’ll take your word for it, but you mention it quite often, and there are a bunch of folks on that forum who act just like you, so I think it’s an understandable mistake. That said, I don’t hate you–I just find you annoying. And my annoyance is justified, I think, by the shit that you post here, and not by whether or not you post on NMA.

He’s from the rpg codex, though I’m not really sure if that’s a step up or down. It’s like deciding which of two turds smells worse.

Pretty sure you’re wrong - the guy from 1up says “Do you worry about negative impact of removing random encounters from fast travel?”

Todd Howard “anytime we change anything we worry about getting shot. We have a great random encounter system when you’re wandering the wasteland”

He’s not refuting the assertion from 1up guy. He’s agreeing and then providing information on the alternative that they included in the game.

Is this a different Draikin, then?

You represent them by echoing their worst, most stereotypical sentiments and opinions with every rotten stupid fucking word you post, that’s how.

Oh no, he’s got one post! I’m no Draikin appologist, but that’s pretty weak.

One is more than none, right?

It’s close enough that it doesn’t matter. If someone asked me if I read Variety, I’d say “no,” even though I’ve probably looked at an issue once or twice in the past.

Ah, OK. I don’t have a problem with not having random encounters for fast travel, though. I’m hoping that you will not be able to abuse fast travel to avoid combat if you’ve wandered into something very nasty without having to run away from whatever you’ve angered first.

If it’s him, then it shows that he’s at the very least a lurker.

He didn’t say he never did. For instance, I might say “I don’t post on Bluesnews” - that does not mean I have never posted on Bluesnews, or that I didn’t used to be a avid bluesnews poster. It means that I do not, currently, post on Bluesnews.

I went through almost all of Oblivion without using fast travel. (which explains why I have 150 hours into it) If the world is interesting, no need to rush.
