Ok…

So with the GFW/Marketplace announcement, is BethSoft holding out on the mod tools so they can shop their DLC on the new Marketplace? :\

So… dare I ask what’s wrong with having Deathclaws in Fallout3?

Nah, just like with every other game, they want to do mod tools, but since it’s a ton of work they can’t promise it before they ship the game.

Finally, someone understands my posts!!!

Obviously written by someone who has never been to Singapore.

NMA has finally posted about the PA comic and the GamingTrend preview and the response has been pretty mild. GT seems to have some cred with them and even the heavyweights realize what PA is doing is just a comic.

Will wonders never cease? Is a new kinder, gentler NMA emerging?

Or did Tom secretly add another website to his empire?

:-)

Google for deathclaws and the fallout wiki. Basically, deathclaws went extinct shortly after the end of Fallout 2, hence the NMA apoplexy.

Dude, our hookers have regular government medical checkups to certify that they’re safe for business.

According to what game? I don’t remember Fallout 2 mentioning that, although it has been a long time since I played it to completion.

Going by the wiki, it was a quote from Chris Avellone that the intelligent deathclaws went extinct, so it’s outside of the game. Of course, his plans for the future of Fallout aren’t exactly binding when he’s not the one actually working on it.

I was curious myself, so…that’s apparently the extent of it.

Seriously. Never made it into released software = totally non canon, at least as far as (sane) people are concerned.

I don’t know if that’s entirely true. There’s a lot of things not in Fallout 1/2 that are clearly part of the canon, such as the fact that it’s an alternate universe.

That said, the Avellone thing about the talking deathclaws is clearly not canon because that was his personal call, as he makes clear in the Fallout bible. However, the game does imply this by telling you that the talking deathclaws are the result of an Enclave experiment and that only male deathclaws can talk.

No, that’s canon for Bethsoft, no talking DeathClaws anymore, Emil said so once.

The dev that thought of the talking Deathclaws went to NMA once to say it wasn’t a good idea, and I tend to agree with him. Still Goris was an interesting character, particularly how he went away at one time to reappear later on the game.

The concept art of the DeathClaws is fine, but I still want to see the in game model. Some other models shown in the videos aren’t looking all that good.

This sounds like Avellone’s way of ensuring he doesn’t get any further shit for the Burrow, a planned location in Fallout 2 full of highly intelligent talking raccoons.

That was for Fallout, not Fallout 2. Some map designer guy on the team came up with the concept for it but Tim and Leon didn’t like the idea so it never made it in. There’s a reference to it on a holodisc in Mariposa Military Base, though.

Not to mention that it is straight out from the Gamma World module Famine at Fargo.

Goris was cool.

A new intelligent life form emerging from the wreckage of an old intelligent life form is cool.
