Fallout’s nuclear war happening in 2077 is kind of irrelevant to the issue of tech in the universe. It’s an alternate universe, so you can’t assume anything is going to be the same. Fallout’s setting is based on the question of what would the future be like if the ideas people had back in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s had come true. The whole idea is that while it is more advanced then what we have today in some areas, its less advanced in others.
We’ve discussed this several times. They are promoting the FPS elements heavily right now, but the extended previews (the ones based on five hours of access rather than 30 minutes) make clear Fallout 3 is mainly an RPG. It certainly isn’t any less of an RPG than Troika’s Vampire game.
The world of geek is so expansive, is there any geek without sin?

Yeah, that’s probably the best “Ace Rimmer” episode of Red Dwarf. Season seven, IIRC.
(I admit I’m a Red Dwarf geek)

Blasphemy. This is only one True Controller.

I watched pretty religiously in college on PBS, but looks like season seven was still premiering around that time - so I guess I have to catch up.
Complete collection for $190 … Ouch.

Yeah, they are still pricing it very high for a show with only about 50 half hour episodes.

Red Dwarf jumped the shark long before season seven. But atleast it’s better than season eight.

Damnit. I can’t resist some Red Dwarf.

I almost pissed myself the first time I saw that scene
the little rimmers in the back doing the slow singing is so great

I’m not sure what you mean by “long before,” but seven and eight were definately the low point of the series (excluding a few moments like the “Ace Rimmer” sequence the gator clip is from).
I thought it was a very good show through the sixth season. Then there was that long gap before they were able to do seven, the co-creator left, and it went down hill.

Yes, but do you know WHY he wins?
Random does not always equal funny.

- PROFIT!
And now you’ve made it painfully apparent that you’ve spent extensive amounts of time on the WoW forums.

Season six was pretty much the point where I lost all hope. Giving Rimmer back his body (in effect) made him a lot less interesting as a character. He was still the same cowardly narcissist as before, but suddenly they gave him back the one thing that kept him from feeling good about his existance.
WoW forums, /b/, planetcrap, most of the internet, really. PROFIT! is far from an exclusive meme.
Let’s get back to the real subject. How the hell can I get one of those lifesize power-armors in my store?

I wouldn’t call that a “jump the shark” moment though. Besides, it simplified things in terms of the writing and in terms of special effects.
Had Red Dwarf peaked by then? Sure. But “jump the shark” is different than peaking, as it refers to the moment a show does something unbelievably stupid. Like Fonzie jumping a pool with a shark in it on Happy Days. I don’t think Red Dwarf had one of those moments until the seventh season.
“Bad” Red Dwarf is still better and more enjoyable than most comedy shows out there.

That doesn’t make it right!

Agreed, need more info about this.

This thread needs its own table of contents.
They should make a Red Dwarf FPS/RPG.
