How much of that do you remember from Oblivion, though? I remember the last week or two before release were largely just a series of screenshots being put up.

There’s only so much of an RPG that you can show before you start spoiling the details that many people want to experience the first time they play it. While I’m sure we will see more previews and some new stuff, the game is still 2-3 months from release. Expecting to be overwhelmed right now is unrealistic.

When did they release that radiant AI demo for Oblivion in relation to the release date? It demoed a lot of the role playing elements, and that’s really the only thing I’m waiting on here.

Anyone remember Bethsoft’s pre-Oblivion stance on the Construction Set?

It’s been mentioned several times that Bethesda was also vague about the construction set with that game, but ultimately released it shortly before the game, IIRC. Comments I’ve seen by Bethesda people elsewhere suggest it’s likely that they will release this version as well, they just don’t want to commit to a date or create an expectation of a date, probably because until they finish the game itself it’s not a priority.

I’m guessing it’ll come out… eventually.

Where are the videos of horses walking around? I think that’s the pre-release hype we’re all waiting for.

I hope they’re robot horses.

With upgradable robot horse chassis protection.

Because everything is enjoyed based on context. What other people criticize you will pay closer attention to. Also, what a game is supposed to be is also very affected by the people we talk to, or previews we read. We don’t actually play games in a vacuum.

LOL

Well, it seemed like Bethesda learned their lesson with the horse armor fiasco. Every DLC after that and the observatory one was more comprehensive and added a lot more to the game. I’ll be seriously disappointed if they have a real phoned-in DLC right off the bat.

You won’t get any of this. The great majority of previews for much of Oblivion’s development were based on the first E3 demo and then a roadshow…the opening escape from the sewer sequence and the rigged setting-the-dog-on-fire Radiant AI demo over and over. This time around, VATS is their “killer app” and, as usual, Bethsoft otherwise demos the beginning of the game.

I remember when we first saw UI shots of Oblivion via an unsanctioned release from a Russian site. In this case, the Pipboy is part of their message so we’ve seen it but they won’t show you around the broader gameworld or detail quests beyond their pre-designated stuff (such as Megaton).

That said, there are a few previews with examples of trying different things (The Family quest, for example).

Obligatory awesome pic:

And it’s not just what other people think and going along like some empty-head sheep lemming, it’s conversing with them and hearing their informed, non-idiotic opinions in an arguably more personal setting minus most of the background buzz.

Dogmeat armor…

So, was it Bill, Abilio or Draikin who was Santa in that clip?

I guess it depends on how much you value social interaction regarding gaming.

Deadly Shadows and Invisible War did not “warm the cockles” of Xbox gamers, either. However, Morrowind did, and that game was just a straight port of the PC one.

no jflect morrowidn was dumed down for retard console kiddie babys D:

you know, satire works only if what you’re saying is an exaggeration of the behaviour you’re satirizing. ;)
