Has anyone bothered reading bits from the latest thread at NMA?

No seriously, the more I think about it, the more it stops making sense. Why is Fallout 3 set after Fallout 2?

Followed by a six pages dealing with the “verisimilitude” of wood decay, super market pharmacies, and other such nonsense. Please, someone come up with something witty that describes this level of batshit fucking insane. I’m dying over here.

That is, essentially, why we’ve not bothered.

Yeah, I know. Sometimes it’s late at night and you click a link somewhere and it leads to one thing that leads to another and… anyway, I was just hoping for some bold declaration of sanity to set my world in order again. Sorry.

About a year and a half ago I was reading a thread on the NMA forums about Fallout 3, and one poster said “its too bad sept 11 didnt happen to bethesda hq” To be fair, no one was saying “Right on, brother!” but, on that same token, no one said “Uh, maybe you’re taking things a bit too far dude.” Probably not going to help your quest for sanity, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

The problems with the time line/how far the world has advanced are almost entirely Fallout 2’s fault. With NCR, New Reno and Vault City they kind of set the game world down that path. I’m glad BethSoft has taken Fallout 1’s outlook more to heart though.

Presumably, Bethesda’s quite a bit smaller and easier to evacuate than the World Trade Center, or even the Pentagon. I’m sure this poster just wishes that casualties had been minimized.

I agree with this sentiment. I think that Bethesda might have set their game earlier, but if they had done that it would have been harder to justify the inclusion of certain key actors from the earlier games, like super mutants. By setting it so late, they can pretty much justify the inclusion of anything they want from the earlier games.

it’d be interesting to see how many death threats they’ve gotten

Considering that Blizzard has installed bulletproof glass in their lobby for this very reason, I don’t think ‘interesting’ would be the right word to use.

wait, really?

dear god…

Yeah - when I asked about it, they said “We’ve never had an incident, but if there’s going to be one, we figure it’s probably going to be here.”

A bunch of shots were I guess leaked from a demo of the beginning up to Megaton. If you’re sensative to spoilers, I guess don’t look. Shows the intro tutorial and a bit of dialogue with NPCs.

Super Mutants could have been included by having a set of Vats on the East Coast, no big deal. Ditto the enclave. The only group you would have really been missing is the Brotherhood of Steel…

All you need is one. And I’m not sure even the supermutants could be justified that easily.

It’s nice to see the great dialogs US journalists were talking about.

Looks like I was right about the low characters-per-sentence limit imposed by the gigantic font.

Draikin, have you ever considered contacting the government and trying to pitch yourself as a psychological weapon?

Because your stupidity is causing me physical pain right now.

So what exactly is your goal in posting here, Draikin? Because it doesn’t seem to be working.

Unless you’re a masochist. :-)

You do realize that, with the amazing wonders of modern technology, text can scroll and continue in another box? You know that the old games did that, right?

…you know you done fucked up, right? I mean you know that, right?
