I want that hat. What do you think about that?
Yes, he can. You can create a character of any ethnicity, and your father will change to match.

So BlackTino Liam Neeson is go?

can you still tinker with the skin tone? From those leaked shots it looks like you’re stuck with whatever their idea of hispanic/asian/black is but I’m guessing there must be a slider buried somewhere.

Yeah, I don’t think you should take his joking-word for it. Before you go off on how Fallout 3 is OMG WACIST maybe wait to see whether it has character diversity or not from someone who knows wtf they’re talking about, yes?
You could do it in Oblivion, so I’m guessing it’s a yes, but I’m hoping they’ve fixed the other issues that were associated with it (skin tones not matching on body to the face, weird blotchy patches, lip coloration that was bizarre, etc).
I blame you for the soup I just spewed on my monitor.

Sounds great to me. This was one of my major complaints about Oblivion: too many boring, unpolished side-quests.

Destructoid’s post on the subject:
We win – even these relatively low-quality snaps show off what’s looking like an unbelievable game.
But not everyone is as excited as we are. One English-speaking commenter at Underone had this to say:
[quote]Looks like s**t. The dialogue is awful. Written by high-school kids at best. It also shows up that the dialogue “choices” are going to be crap or simply lead to the same reply anyway (therefore the player doesn’t even have a real choice and is just watching a slideshow/movie play out while clicking).

LOL man, there was an NMA/Codex-type at the event who not only broke the NDA but also is busy slandering their game?
Edit: Did I misunderstand that? Did they just mean that someone went to their site and trolled the comments system for their article?

I’m still not sure how to make a character with a beard in Oblivion.
That’s easy. First, make a character that’s gay, and then enter into a loveless marriage of convenience.

It pissed me off that I couldn’t make a character with a sensible haircut in Oblivion.
I’m seeing a degree of NPC sameyness in those shots - but at least they aren’t all dog-ugly.
Mr. Burke looks devoid of character. I sure hope I can kill him so I can get that hat.
That hat is pretty awesome.

I’m not sure I understand this complaint given that the NPCs in Fallout all looked the same with some very minor costume variation until you actually opened up the dialog screen.
Yeah… this isn’t the original Fallout. Giving important characters a unique look and feel isn’t exactly ground breaking game design anymore.

Well, I mean it would be nice if all of them were very unique in appearance. It is disappointing that the character customization systems in both Oblivion and Fallout 3 offer so little that you can’t make them significantly different just on facial features alone. Compare that to say, APB character customization, which lets you define your characters to the n-th degree so much so that you can duplicate real people (celebrities) in the game.
That said, I’m not sure I would completely hold it against them. If one or two main-quest critical NPCs look significantly different and the rest have a samey look then it’s not so far different than a lot of modern RPGs out there (I mean Mass Effect NPCs had a certain degree of similarity in that same way).
I’m not really seeing the sameyness in those shots; all of their mouths, noses, eyes, and chins are different (when visible). I’m not going to look at this guy and think he’s Burke. What exactly looks similar about them?

Doesn’t the first guy look like this guy, though? I mean only beard length and eye color is different. Maybe hair-cut too. But the facial features are identical.
