If you prefer a surround sound system to your headphones, then you need better headphones.

On a more serious note, if I’m really into a game, I like to have the volume up pretty high. But as I live in an apartment, I can’t really get away with doing that unless I use headphones.

Beyer Dynamic DT 770’s are the shiznit.

Living in an apartment doesn’t really magically trump living somewhere where noise level isn’t a factor. That’s like goonthink dude.

If only movie theatres would figure this out and start handing out really good headphones to patrons so they could have a true cinema experience.

i rather suffer earsplitting noise levels than put on some greasy used-by-a-zillion-filthy-bastards headphones. fuck it, i got a hdtv, i’ll just watch the flick on that.

If the theaters provided jacks, I don’t mind bringing real headphones.

Of course, then there’s going to be assholes blasting sound on crappy headphones leaking different tones on every direction.

No way a theater is going to install all those jacks on their crappy seating and then have to run some deposit/check system to make sure people don’t steal their crappy headphones.

That has nothing to do with sound quality and everything to do with practicality and economics.

So you’re saying that if only movie theatres could figure out a practical way to give everyone headphones, that would indeed be the better way to see a movie?

I dunno, man, I’ve watched Jurassic Park using headphones and using a 7.1 setup, and only with the latter did the sound of the T-Rex roar actually pass through me.

Well I already said that you need better headphones. ;)

There is an astounding level of point-missing going on in this thread right now.

I think that is the idea of this thread now:
Derail it as much as possible to serve as a warning example. ;)

That is the point.

:-)

Movies are different. I perfer a good 5.1 or better sound setup with movies. With games, I feel it detracts. I rather headphones.

I’ve tried headphones for gaming but they are too uncomfortable. My ear starts to hurt where the speaker is being pressed towards it and my ears also sweat. The only alternative is to get those really large type headphones, and they are bulky uncomfortable because of their size.

The Sennheiser circumaural ones (580, 600, 650) are the most comfortable headphones you’ll ever wear. I’ve forgotten I had them on at times.

In Fallout 3, I hear that one of the side-quests gives you a pair of RADIOACTIVE FUCKING HEADPHONES.

But all headphones are radioactive.

And here I was afraid that I was going to see spoilers if I came into this thread.

The father went into the wasteland to search for good headphones.

whoops…

I completely agree with this. Well, except for the fact that you’ve misspelled prefer in three consecutive posts.
