Yeah, god forbid cliffski jumps in the thread and gets his forehead vein throbbing.

Nobody’s saying you’re necessarily wrong, just that some people on this forum are so unflinchingly militant in their opposition to anything remotely resembling piracy that it’s probably safer for new posters not to even bring it up, unless it’s to condemn it on every level.

I absolutely agree, but with my admittedly limited experience here it doesn’t generally go well. It’s just one of those subjects …

Mostly I just wanted to give Morberis a break, who didn’t seem to intend any malice and could probably use a gentler primer into the QT3 taboos.

Remember the Qt3 WASTE network?

I created a poll to allow a more general discussion of the torrent issue and to see what the board feeling is. It’s also anonymous.

I’m pretty interested in the results, actually - considering anonymity.

Yes, true enough, for obvious reasons.

Fuckin saved.

Yes indeed.

Uh…

Cliffnotes?

Casual music and TV piracy is OK, except when it’s extended to its logical conclusion of using Qt3 to coordinate an international music and TV piracy ring with military grade encryption the likes of which the western world has never seen.

Talk about game piracy though, hooo boy, cliffski will dive right up your ass.

I hope Daikin is spared. Nivea-man is too perfect a nick-name not to be used.

Doesn’t make it incorrect.

Doesn’t make it correct, either.

I’m just playing devil’s advocate though, of course everyone on the internet is suspicious about good intentions, but accept bad things about other people at face value.

Experience has proven to be, however, pretty sound. Which is what I said in the first place. Devil’s advocate is fairly useless if someone has actually considered the other side of the equation.

Do you really not see why people believe negative things easier than positive things when it comes to behavior? This is not something limited to the internet.

But that’s perspective.

Well, see, the motive for telling the truth about torrenting it but lying about paying for it already is so you can participate in any pre-street date discussions with presumed impunity. At least, that would be my guess.

Devil’s advocate is pretty much always useless. Unless you plan on filing a LOLsuit against Morberis, there’s no point condeming either, unless you are just looking for some e-peen in the form of “hey look at me I’m against piracy, and this pirating pirate is full of crap!”

EDIT: For the record, if there were a way to pirate a game that I had already paid for, without providing a boost to the illegal (a better word might be immoral) pirates, I totally would do it. Sadly, there is not, and this is why I don’t do it, not to mention that I don’t preorder and therefore have no right to play it before I pay. If you have already handed over cash/credit, then why shouldn’t you get to play right when it is available to you?

Yes there is. But it still impacts the game in negative ways, and you shouldn’t do it.

If __________ = “legally” then A-OK!

If __________ = “illegally” then…you know, illegal is illegal, innit?

So is talking about youtubes kosher? 'cause damn. I got some Draiken-y rumblings from those.
