Nice to see that one of the most advertised and hyped scenarios is getting cut because people could get offended, ok will get offended.

Also a nice mod that makes the interface a little more like the original fallouts.

Edit:

This is also a nice one

In other news it looks like NMA have a new outlet for their rage.

NMA-ers looking forward to the review they commissioned from “Vince” might be disappointed if they’re expecting a harsh take on the game. I read the guy’s “Let’s Play” thread and he seemed to be enjoying the game overall.

I thought this thread had died and I had a sad. It must never die. We must all promise.

Oh boy. I’m hoping for good things from balance mods like that. Maybe give ammo weight again, make items scarcer, and beef the NPCs up. I’ll probably try this one soon though. Just finished the main quest after 50 hours of wandering around so it might be time for a new character.

The game does have a lot of flaws and it is easy to find criticisms but that doesn’t change the fact that it is a blast to play.

Hopefully some creative modding can iron out the kinks.

Any mod that gave ammo weight would go right under my radar. I’m a fan of mods that make the game more fun, but ammo weight would just make it harder. Ammo weight was offset in Fallout 2 by the fact that you had a car with a trunk. Having Vic hold all my shit and having to constantly trade with him was not fun, and my low-charisma, low-strength fallout 3 character would suffer.

Yeah, ammo weight would kill the game for my low-strength character, for sure. Thank God Bethesda had the brainz0rz on that one.

I’d actually be happier if I was limited to one gun and ammo for it, instead of carrying a 10mm SMG, a hunting rifle, a sniper rifle, an assault rifle, a knife, 10+ grenades and mines, a magnum, a unique rifle, a railway rifle, a dart gun, a laser rifle, a laser pistol, a plasma pistol, a plasma rifle, a sword, and a shotgun all at once like I am now. With my character with 4 strength. God damn.

Yeah, me too. The phrase “bristling with weapons” was never more apropos. Although, fuck the knife – Ripper FTW. It’s just too hard to pass up on any weapons ever – WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF AMMO???

(You know, you could just carry one gun… nothing’s stopping you…)

What I need is a safehouse where I can store some of this shit and then do a fast-travel resupply in the slim chance that I ever run low on ammo. I know there are ways to get safe houses, and I know I haven’t bothered yet. DON’T TELL ME.

Has anyone figured out if stashing stuff in random containers throughout the world leads to potential loss of stuff? If not, that seems like one route you could take.

It does. There’s a reset period. It doesn’t in your house though.

  1. Get 1200 or so caps.
  2. Buy the Rock-It Launcher schematic from Moira in Megaton.
  3. Pick up random shit to use as ammo for it.
  4. Now your ammo has weight to it, enjoy.

However, there is something to be said for a weapon that gives you the option of using butter knives as ammo. Seeing an enemy explode from a crit to the face from a butter knife,spoon, fork, or even spork is, well, priceless.

I decapitated a man with a chessboard last night. Playing a new character, a good guy for once, with Big Guns speciality. Using the Rock-It as a primary gives you a whole new outlook on junk, and also means when you find a schematic, you’ve usually got most of the parts loaded in your gun.

Anyone know if weight makes any difference to damage? The weapon has a single damage figure, but I’m wondering if heavier items boost it. It’d be cool if weapon damage + weight = actual damage.

My other character is so rich she only uses the Rock-It Launcher to shoot wads of $50 bills at people.

Do you need to have a schematic to make things, or is it just knowing the recipe? In other words do I need the schematic before I make a shishkebab or can I just assemble the materials and go for it?

You need the schematics.

Some people have lost items stored in their house. This may be related to storing items in a container, any container, that does not start out empty.

I played an entire game using the mailbox in Springvale as storage (I missed housing the first run-through). I never lost any items. That mailbox starts out empty.

Also, weapon durability when made depends on how many of the schematics you have(there are 3 per weapon) and your repair skill.

1=50% of your repair skill.
2=100% of your repair skill.
3=125% of your repair skill up to a maximum of 100.

The dart gun is the most awesome.

Apparently that’s happens because the lockers in your house were not set to be “owned” by the player, so certain NPCs would come and take the good stuff. Radiant AI at work!

Source? The alternative theory(things reset, and the fridge starts with stuff in it) explains the behavior better.
