You can.
Just don’t do so in the annoyingly tedious NMA style, where “I may not like this game” gets replaced with Bethesda as the earthly incarnation of evil defiling the pinnacle of all RPG franchises.
For example, I’d be amazed if anyone jumps on Naeblis for his (her? its?) comment about not liking an increased reliance on combat. Or Killzig for not liking the “survival horror” description.
new fan interview is up and the shotgun = sex.
Yes. The way that Draikin, Foxstab and thamer have chosen to voice their disapproval probably has nothing to do with the response their posts get.
Why, I love the way that a thread about Peggle can be interrupted by Draikin posting about how much he hates Fallout 3’s direction. Or the way thamer makes the bold declaration that Fallout 3 will be bad because Fable wasn’t as good as Molyneux said it would be. It’s downright charming.

it’s been a while but does this shot remind anyone else of the bar Harmonica is in near the end(?) of Once Upon a Time in the West?
Have you played Fable? It’s almost that bad.
“Do you know how to make a ‘Three Mile Island Iced Tea’?”
No, it’s more the fact that your opinion is based on the new eyebrows of a cartoon character that makes your opinion invalid. Also stupid.
Hey!
“His” :P
Naeblis is a tittle taken from the Wheel of Time series, but my ‘real’ internet alias is usually Turin Turambar (but Tom is evil and i had to change my name because there was alraedy a “Turin Turamba” in this forum :/ ).
About Fallout 3, i think in the end it will be “something in the middle”, not as good as Fallout 1/2 but not as bad as some people fear. With lots of things taken from Fallout 1 & 2, but a bit more streamlined, without less alternative methods to complete quests, with more combat (because the average gamer is usually an action player), and with less moments where the system checks your stats to change the outcome of some stuff.
Damn you, Limbo of the Lost! Now I can’t help but think that ghoul will break into song at any moment.
Also, Thamer, in case you wonder, the reason you guys take so much shit is that every time a new piece of news emerges about this title, you run here, screaming like chicken little, telling us that the sky is falling and this is the definitive proof that Bethesda has fucked everything up, ruined the franchise, and raped your mother. There’s no space between 0 and “EVERYTHING’S AWFUL FOREVER” with you guys. You come across like the worst kind of fanatics and frothing zealots, and as a whole, the form treats that kind of behavior with revulsion and mockery.
You want to be treated better? Regardless of what wrongs you feel Bethesda has done to you or QT3 posters have done to you, CALM THE FUCK DOWN. Allow for the possibility that this is not the end of the world, or even the end of the Fallout franchise. Realize that until you play this game, see this game played, or at least see a demo or decent quantity fo footage, you cannot know how it will play. Stop looking for reasons to justify your fears and suspicions. Did I mention calm the fuck down?
I think we all need to calm down. Most of the NMAers and their ilk here aren’t that bad except Draikin, who has no redeemable qualities whatsoever.
That would be nice all around. I suppose I skip over the more obvious long-winded rants, and am more likely to notice when someone ascribes relatively mild ‘icks’ and ‘hrms’ with ‘OH NOEZ’ one-liner doomsaying.
I, too, like the “I have a laser!” eyebrows better than the “I will zap all of you!” eyebrows with the supernasal squiggle.
Yeah, I do much prefer the old eyebrows. I like the happy-happy-fun-fun manner in which the old school Vault Boy approaches such varied tasks as making a sandwich, performing a field tracheotomy, and self-applying suppository tac nukes.

One or two subtle changes won’t change the look and feel. Many subtle changes to Fallout iconic themes will change the mood. Now that may not be a bad thing if its done for the right reasons. I’d just hate for the whole world to be much darker with far less humor, you know?

Not sure what any of this is about. I don’t even have an account on NMA and barely visit their site. In fact I barely read this forum anymore because unless one has a high post count or created their account before the pyramids were created saying anything remotely outside of groupthink means getting yelled at.
It’s a real shame that you can’t read my opinions and simply respond in a civil manner or ignore it if you think I’m just trolling.
Yeah, it could just be marketing’s evil influence, or it could mean that project leads are misunderstanding the tone.
I’ll bet it’s just an artist who liked it that way.
Lastly, as far as submitting to a more powerful foe, yes they do that, in that they run away. If they’re overmatched, they holster their weapon, flee and try to hide. While this sounds cool on paper, it’s often not fun at all, and we’ve ended up really dialing that back, because it gets really annoying really fast, to have people run away all the time. The main faction that still acts like this are the Raiders, the others don’t do it so much.
I kind of like that Raiders would be cowardly and harass/flee. Would seem to fit, right?
Another thing that may interest only me from the fan interview. Ammunition is weightless. Doesn’t that kind of contradict all the survival/scarcity stuff they’ve been playing at elsewhere? (clean water, food, item degradation)…
