I’m hoping they fix up the netcode so whatever you hit clientside registers on the server. I don’t care if it leads to more cheating. I see that as a small price to pay. With good stats and monitoring cheating is hard to hide.

Two best MWO videos I’ve seen. Anyone else have some favorites to share?
I don’t have a good source for videos. There was a pretty good NGNG vid where they ran 4 streak commandos, pre-ECM:
My win percentage is rapidly approaching 50-50, still pugging 80% of the time. I have been maxing out my Ravens, so a mix of ECM play and not. Game is still tons of fun for me, ECM no ECM whatever its aaaalllll good.
I have now mastered Atlas, Awesome, Cataphract, Centurion, and almost Raven. Trying to decide whta to tackle next while I wait for the Stalker. I love Catapults but they are ubiquitous. I might do Commando, another mech I love, since I already have a pile of xp sitting on my 2D from my streak commando testing.
34 million c-bills waiting to be spent.

I was the first one in, the last one killed and put up a hell of a fight I think. Splatcat is pretty awesome but it seems to draw the ire of the enemy team worse than anything I’ve played yet.
I have ~18 million saved up and I’ll probably not spend much of it for a while. Going to keep saving up and see how the Stalker is.

Got to say I’m a bit let down by the newly released details on Conquest mode - http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/83539-new-game-mode-conquest/
It basically sounds like Assault mode with 3 more bases and a slightly altered scoring scheme. If this is all they can cook up community warfare will be in dire straights. I would have much preferred just a plain FFA mode because then I can solo queue and be on even odds. It’d fix the match making problems and provide what I think is a more interesting game mode anyways. It also fits into canon as they had FFA arena battles on Solaris, right? That all said Conquest mode could turn out to be better than Assault so I’m all for new modes just a bit let down as I expected more. It somewhat reminds me of HiRez when they released CTF, then Blitz CTF and Capture & Hold as if they were deserving new modes (they weren’t, almost no one plays them). It’s as if PGI asked themselves what’s the least amount of work we can do to stretch out the assets we have with a little bit different gameplay. I also expect ECM capable lights to be even stronger in the new mode which isn’t a good thing.

Yeah its pretty unimaginative. I’d be more interested in more “mission” oriented gametypes that are a little more organic to the battletech universe.
I’ve kind of accepted that this iteration of mechwarrior will not have meaningful persistent gameplay.

Isn’t community warfare based on the promise of persistent gameplay in a universe with capturable planets, etc? I thought various PGI employees are on the record stating such persistence is coming. That’s one of the main reasons I decided to support them because of what is ahead in the future. If that doesn’t happen I’m going to be mad.
I also look forward to more varied missions implemented which fit into past games and battletech.
Yes… but it seems so far out in terms of implementation. Theres not even a hint of it in game yet.
If you look at what they were roginally talking about for conquest mode, i.e. capturable bases with automated defences and other objectives, it’s obvious they are falling way short.
The game is still very fun and I am sure it will evolve but i really feel like the persistent universe thing is a bit of a pipe dream.

I want more mechs and maybe larger maps. Gimme 20 vs 20

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense. That’s one reason I’m starting to wonder what is going on at PGI (unless they are sitting on something big to come in the next few months).
I did not know those details but perhaps they will be there. Conquest might be a little more involved than they described. What’s funny is the bases do have oil/drilling animations on them. I didn’t notice that until I looked specifically at them the other day to wonder why they’d use them again for resource bases.
I hope not. :-( It does feel weird since some parts of MWO are incredible but others are just so shoddy and slow to improve. There are still most of the same bugs and crashes I’ve had since 2-3 patches back.
Janster, I just want more of everything at this point. Hawken only has a few modes (FFA, TDM, Siege, Missile Assault) but it’s miles ahead of where MWO is in that regard.

I played hawken, and was extremely unimpressed. It’s really just a standard shooter… there was nothing that made it feel like a mech game to me.

I’m still enjoying MWO once or twice a week with friends, and I’m patiently waiting for the introduction of the Jagermech, but my main BattleTech/MW focus these days is on following the coverage for MechWarrior: Tactics.
It’s obviously a different genre entirely, but I can’t help but think that their approach to customization of mechs is lightyears ahead of MWO’s. If you haven’t been following it, I encourage a read of their dev-blog on how chassis work: http://mwtactics.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1466-1102-dev-intro-to-card-types-mech-chassis/

I wasn’t impressed by Hawken either but it definitely is ahead of MWO on modes of play.
I’ll check out that link meeper though I’m strongly partial to FPS over TBS.

Yeah, MWO has a few really shoddy stuff, particularly the mech customization is just incredibly bad, how on earth you can make something so useless is beyond me.
Its hard to use and gives no overview

I think that part of this is due to the following:
- I believe that whole front end is getting replaced soon.
- It wouldn’t make a ton of sense to put a ton of effort into explaining all the stuff, when the underlying mechanics are still changing. Given that every patch changes some fairly major stuff, putting a lot of effort into documentation would be a mistake at this point.
Currently, the MWO forums provide a lot of documentation, but I can see how lots of folks would never bother to check, and end up just being hugely confused.

Yeah, if its just temporary then fine, I endured anyway, and I have researched my two atlas mechs quite thouroughly and I’m happily blasting people to bits even without a PUG.
Timex, are you Timex on there too?

See I think the opposite. Since the game is new and things are constantly changing more info in the client is extremely useful. I know it’d take work to keep it updated but I don’t think it’d be that hard or time consuming once they get the majority of info added. Each patch changes things but usually not more than a few things at a time.
There is lots of info externally on other sites, forums or wikis but there should be more in game. I’d like to see historical flavor text at the least which wouldn’t needed to be updated much.

Interesting, I’m guessing their analytics must’ve showed a lot of people quitting after 25 matches.
One thing that does have me curious then, if it’s easy to get one decent mech with just standard play, where does the money sink come in? You vet types, do you guys plunk down any more cash into the game? World of Tanks had its gold ammo and I guess MWO has the same premium mechs/tanks thing going on. Garage slots?
Of course, they could be going the LoL route, and basically let the game be fully playable without spending any cash, with most of the monies going towards cosmetic changes.

Not only that, it’s that and other changes that really will help new players (like me). A pair of weeks more of BF3 and I will install again Mechwarrior.
