So I jumped the gun a bit. I was excited.
I’ll make a thread on Wednesday and will run a tournament for MotW.
I’m thinking a three-day time-limit, best three out of five rounds/best two out of three matches double-elimination format like forge ran for SFIV.
While I know there are people like myself who have played this game a lot before the XBLA release, I think if we can start by next weekend then the n00bs won’t be so n00by.
You and me both! I wasn’t putting you down up above. I thought maybe I’d get a BUSTAH WOLF! reply. :)
This release probably saves me about $500 to $600.

Why is the game using Matthew & Gunnar Nelson as the background image?
Ooooh, this is exciting. I’ve only played MotW a couple of times, so I’ll suck bad at it, but I’m still definitely right there.
Man, I didn’t even pick up on the reference, which is an indication of how long it’s been since I played this. Quite a year for fighters, both new and old.
It’s 800 points, which is a perfect price IMO. Consider that a Neo Geo and the cart would run you $700 to $800 at the least. :)
Even a Big Red cab and the cart would be around $500. The MS points equivalent of $10 or whatever that is, isn’t so bad.
I will be a stickler on the three-day thing after forge’s tourney seemed to run so long. I’d rather play multiple tournaments. If this goes well, I’m game to run a seeded SFIV tourney again, too. And BlazBlue… that’s 6/30. Not sure when KoF XII will ship yet, but I’m in for that one also. I have Father’s Day gift pre-orders for both of those.
Yeah, Blazblue is the only problem. I’m really looking forward to this, but I kind of wish it had come out a month ago or a month or two from now. I’ll be playing it as soon as it’s available, but I’ll also probably be putting it right back down when my copy of Blazblue arrives.
Or a 30 dollar disc on a 20 dollar dreamcast. Its on the PS2 as well as an import. But, hyperbole is fun!
Dreamcast version is screwed up. The voices aren’t synched properly with the characters and moves. It’s relatively easy to get over that, but it’s definitely not the original.
Also, no joystick without another $80 purchase… for one stick… on the Dreamcast.
I’ve already got the stick, the game & the Dreamcast. So bully for me. :)
I’ve never heard of this game. What’s so great about it, compared to all the other games in its genre?
I would also enjoy an overview of the answer to that question from you guys who have spent more time with this game than me. I’m well aware of its exalted status among fans, and I’ve long considered it a gap in my experience of the genre, since the few times I played it were when I was just learning to appreciate fighting games, and playing lots and lots of them all in a row, and I therefore don’t really know much about it.

I am curious about the answer to Mysterio and extarbag’s question, and I still want to know why it has Nelson in the background.
Damn it. I had something lengthy all typed up and lost it. I can’t do that again.
Bottom line, this is the last Fatal Fury game and it’s the best, without a doubt. Awesome animation, superb music and sound, great backgrounds, a character lineup that only has one of the original cast (Terry Bogard, SNK’s iconic lead) meaning everyone else is all new, but yet still familiar enough because of the fighting styles of some of the characters match up favorably with those from past games.
It pushed the Neo Geo hardware to places no one thought it could go, and did it with one of the best fighting systems SNK ever developed–one that has never been duplicated elsewhere.

Just got bitten by the Rocket Riot bug myself. Wow, that’s way more fun than I expected it to be.
Love the theme song, too.
Worms 2: Armageddon out next week for 800 points.
Can’t wait!
Is it Worms 2 or is it Worms: Armageddon?
It’s basically a remake of Worms Armageddon with some new stuff added as well, but this is the name they’ve gone with for the XBLA version.
It looks far better than the first XBLA release, over 40 weapons this time and much more customisation options. Physics are supposed to be more like the PC version of Armageddon and they’ve also put flame effects back into the game.
Mark of the Wolves is amazing. I totally get why nobody I’ve asked has really been able to put it into words, but the game explained to me right away why it’s so good. Definitely lives up to the hype.
