Marshawn is so good with money that his teammates seek him out for advice. I fully expect Beast Mode Financial Services soon.

My brother is awesome at writing headlines, thanks.

Wow good for him. Retiring young too, also very smart.

I’m not that surprised, though. He seems like the kind of guy who would be happy with a decent apartment, an Xbox, and plenty of weed. Wouldn’t we all!

It’s a bit more common now. Gronk hasn’t touched his football money either.

Seems like a lot of those players have seen the 30 for 30 film about athletes blowing through their cash and have taken it to heart. Good on 'em.

You forgot skittles.

Elite athletes don’t really strike me as sugar fiends. I don’t really see Marshawn doing the Dew while he plays Black Ops 3 (which he is apparently in).

EDIT: I stand corrected. Marshawn Lynch loves skittles.

Maybe not, but Lynch has a well known penchant for skittles.

Lamar Odom of the NBA was a notorious candy addict. He ended up in a really bad spot, but he was great player for about 10 years.

Well, Denver pretty much roxxored the soxxors of the Patriots, who were the #3 ranked offense… and that game went down in a surprisingly similar way. They beat the crap out of Tom Brady, just like they beat on Cam Newton. Both those guys had the same look at the end of their games, which was basically,“I do not like this at all.”

But yeah, based on some of the comments by Denver, they kind of DID figure out the Carolina offense.

On some level though, it’s not like it’s some great slight to Carolina… Denver’s defense was absolutely insane in that game.

Bad turn of phrase on my part. What I’m trying to say is that when you stop doing the little morale things like I mentioned, you’re showing that you’re stressed. When the defense is getting to you, you’ve got to keep celebrating the successes like you’ve done all year. I really was boggled when Stewart walked off with the ball instead of giving it to some kid in the stands (or giving it to Cam to do so).

Yeah, I totally know what you mean, and to some degree you’re right.

I was just pointing out that when you’re going up against a defense that is putting that kind of pressure on you, I think it’s hard to find your rhythm. It’s hard to say though what the impact would have been if they had actually been kind of cocky like normal… it’s hard to get prideful when the defense is literally grabbing the ball out of your hands though.

That’s the thing that was so crazy about Denver’s defense. They were simultaneously making tackles and being huge ball hawks.

In terms of keeping the ball… I dunno. I mean, the guy was in the Super Bowl. Keeping one memento for yourself isn’t a dick move.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty excellent game. But I had no strong allegiance to either team.

It slays me that he may have paid for his crotch grabbing fines out of pocket. hahah, I guess it’s a write off.

Yeah, I definitely agree. This was the first time all year that our offensive line was just thrown around, our run game was shut down, and our receiver corps was mostly covered.

I still think if Carolina had just stopped with the needless penalties and stopped with the sailed throws and dropped passes, we might have seen a different ending. I can even forgive the O-Line for the false starts. With the crowd noise and the effectiveness of Denver’s line, they were obviously just trying to do their job. The rest of it though, no excuse.

I don’t know if I agree, but it’s not like the straw that broke the camel’s back or anything. It’s just a minor part of a larger set of things. I do feel like I saw Cam running up to him to grab the ball like he’s done before, but Stewart moved away too quick for him to get it. Wouldn’t surprise me if Cam was intending to give it away.

I think it was an excellent defensive game, and Denver’s special teams did well. I don’t think Carolina’s offense and special teams were playing at the level they have all year. I understand not producing points in the face of a superior defense, but there were too many mistakes. If Carolina had just cleaned up the stuff I’ve talked about, and yet still been dominated, I would probably have felt the same as you.

Oh, and I seriously hope we see some sort of severe punishment for Talib on the facemask he committed against Brown in the first quarter. I don’t know how accurate the reports are, but there are several news stories where he claimed that he did it on purpose because he knew the penalty wouldn’t be but a yard or two. There’s no excuse for that stuff, especially given how severe the facemask was.

Agreed, he really could have caused a huge injury. Like, career ending injury. And yes, Talib said himself that he knew it would only be a 1 and a half yard penalty, so whatever.

But seriously, he could have broken Brown’s neck with that.

Another Panther fan here.

I was surprised by that game, honestly. Based on the regular season, the Carolina offensive line was MUCH better than the one New England fielded in Denver which had a ton of injuries AND was tipping the snap count. I thought Cam would get some pressure and that the run game would get slowed, but I didn’t expect the meltdown that occurred.

Cam seemed off almost from the start. Much has been made of Shula’s game plan and the lack of Cam making adjustments at the line like he has all season, but I almost wonder if Shula noticed Cam wasn’t quite right and tried to take some of the pressure off him by making more of the playcalls. Of course Shula may have just sucked last night, which wouldn’t be the first time. Still, Cam seemed to lack energy even before the multitude of hits he took. He only seemed kinda like himself on the lone TD drive in the 2nd quarter where he was scrambling. Even then though, no first down celebration or emotion. It was really strange and totally out of character compared to the rest of the season. While Remmers gets a ton of blame for Cam’s fumbles, as well as Von Miller getting a ton of credit, Cam had no pocket awareness on either play. The reaction to that final fumble was also bizarre.

The WRs had too many drops and struggled to get open vs. mostly man coverage. Cotchery was really bad with the drops, which was very uncharacteristic for him. Ginn should have caught the INT ball. Tolbert’s lost fumble was huge, as were some complete whiffs he and the other RBs had in pass protection. The missed FG and that WTF punt coverage on the one return were also huge.

The defense played extremely well for the most part. They missed out on some turnovers they could have gotten with some dropped INTs and fumbles they didn’t recover, but they held Denver to FGs even when they were given great field position by offensive and special teams miscues, until that last fumble.

It seemed like every step forward with a good play, there was a step or two back with a poor play, penalty or turnover. Despite all of that, with 5 minutes to go it’s a 6-point game that was there for the taking. Cam had led the team on a winning drive against the Seahawks in Seattle against a great D, I thought he could do it again. Two drives, one ended in a punt the other in a fumble, game. Incredibly frustrating. Denver’s D played great, but I would have liked it if the Carolina team I saw all season had showed up to face them.

Lynch has a Lambo. How did he pay for that if he is saving all his money?

Cam was terrible Sunday. Every bit as bad as Manning. He overthrew like 10 balls. But way worse was the lack of an attempt at a fumble recovery. That will haunt him for the rest of his career. Dudes dont want to play with guys like that.

His press conference was a fucking joke. For a guy who hams it up on first downs and TDs, who basically goes all out celebrating when things are going well, to not have the balls to sit and take questions after a loss on this stage is very telling. It was a bad look and it makes a mockery of his recent MVP win. I suspect that will be his first and only MVP.

olaf, you’re just now getting to this hot take? This was your moment!!

He saves all of his game money, but he still brings in about $5 million a year through endorsements.

Lynch does a radio spot for a local plumber called Beacon Plumbing. Their tag line is “Stop freakin’, call Beacon.” The ads are sort of low budget, but they feature Lynch, and this is the greater Seattle area. I figure Lynch is a sharp business guy, but every time I hear his laconic voice recite the tag line, I think of Rocky Balboa wearing those meat market ads on his robe.

His sponsors include Skittles (of course), Nike, Pepsi, Activision (Black Ops, dudes), and Progressive. But the big money is Beacon Plumbing Heatin’ and Mechanical. That and Jaguar of Bellevue.

And it may have contributed to knocking him out of the game, as he did end up failing the concussion test.
