Dallas isn’t even the best offense in Texas.

The Lions are simply amusing this season. Even when they are in total tank mode, they still manage to get screwed by the refs. This time they get tagged with a late hit penalty because one of the Lions players got blocked in the back by a Denver player, out of bounds nonetheless, and was thus shoved into the ball carrier, who was also out of bounds. He even made an effort to keep the Denver player from falling when they collided. It was obvious to everyone, that the flag should have been picked up… except the refs. I am beginning to think that the refs have a frikkin quota to fill or something.

Like an idiot I picked the line on both Dallas and the Lions. Just shoot me now.

There are good days, bad days, and Cleveland Browns days. sigh

They have been a big disappointment. I was pulling for them but they seem to want to embrace mediocrity. I still think Mayfield has a chance to be an elite QB but he seemed to take a step backward this year. It seems like they had good talent on offense.

Now they are in a division with the best team in football, the Ravens. I didn’t see that coming when the season started.

It will be interesting to see how long Jackson can play at that level. History suggests not for long, unless he drastically changes his playing style. Can he do that and what would that look like will be fun to watch.

I’ve wondered about that too. It would be interesting to see how many QB injuries happen as a result of hits in the pocket vs. running the ball. QBs are so exposed when passing, and they have these giant defensive players landing on top of them or players diving at their legs. You take a QB like Jackson who, when he tucks it in and runs really does become a running back, and I think he can protect himself a bit better.

Anyway, let’s say as a running QB instead of playing for 15 years Jackson plays for a sublime 7-8 years. Most teams would be happy with that. Teams will draft a running back with a top 10 pick knowing that’s about all they will get.

My Vikings are in, god help us. We may not have a miracle this time.

The Seahawks injury situation is absolutely bleak. On running backs alone, RB #2 was lost a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday, RBs #1 and #3 were lost for the season on the same drive. They will now go against the Niners and into the playoffs with their fourth-string RB starting.

Meanwhile, tons of starters on defense didn’t play in the loss against Arizona. It’s bad.

They have good talent at the skill positions, but at the expense of the fundamentals: The offensive line, particularly at the tackle position, stinks.

When what you’re doing is not really football you can afford to embrace madness, which is what happened in the Miami-Cincy game yesterday. The Dolphins led 35-19 with twenty-nine seconds to play. And went to overtime.

They gave up two touchdowns and two 2xps in 29 seconds.

After the Bengals scored and recovered their onside kick Miami put eight defenders in the end zone for the final play of the game, but TE Tyler Eifert still came down with the ball. Dalton then ran in the 2xp to tie the game.

If “Last Five Minutes Dalton” had played the entire game he would have thrown for about 2,500 yards and 36 touchdowns yesterday.

Meanwhile, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw four touchdowns for the 11th time in his career - more than Elway, Romo and Matt Ryan - and his first touchdown of the day went to Defensive Lineman Christian Wilkins.

Wilkins’ scoring catch tied him for fifth on the Dolphins in receiving touchdowns with… Kicker Jason Sanders.

Watched football for the first time this season this weekend with the commercials intact and not on DVR.

And I have a question, one I have every single season:

What’s the venn diagram overlap of “People watching an NFL game” and “People under the age of 40 with three kids and a mortgage who can afford to buy their spouse a Lexus as an impulse buy” ?

Seems like a lot of the higher tier car companies try really hard to promote the idea that you surprise your spouse (or yourself) with a luxury car at Christmastime. It always seemed pretty farfetched to me.

Seems like a lot of the higher tier car companies try really hard to promote the idea that you surprise your spouse (or yourself) with a luxury car at Christmastime. It always seemed pretty farfetched to me.

It’s even more ridiculous as they are always promoting leases on these luxury cars as well. In my head, I always hear “Surprise! Here’s a $650 monthly payment!”

The GMC truck commercial where the guy surprises his wife with his and her trucks, and she picks the color he wanted, garners incredible amount of scorn on reddit game threads. Everything is just so hilariously out-of-touch in that commercial. Their audience are couples who each make high 6-figures and yet are still in their mid 20s. Look at their house!!! Even the driveway is ridiculous.

By my estimation, 98% of commercials shown during NFL are car, cell phone, cell company, and jewelry (this time of year). They seem to be assuming an amazing level of affluence.

Just consider: you can take you and your spouse on a nice vacation for what that fucking Apple phone costs. Or pay a month’s mortgage. Or a lot of other things.

Is it any more out of touch than the much-scorned Peloton commercials, which aside from the issues with the now-infamous Christmas present episode, show young persons with fantasy-expensive lifestyles? And yet these type of ads must produce results, because they keep getting made year after year.

Given the amount of premium suites and tickets the teams manage to sell, I am not surprised that there’s enough wealthy watchers to make commercials worth it.

A lot of excessive Christmas shopping is the gift giver trying too hard to ‘make up’ for the past. They are probably aiming for 50 somethings.

God, I never watch ads. Football season is the only time I am forced to, and each year I am more befuddled/chagrined/annoyed.

YES. THIS COMMERCIAL.

I mean, COME ON.
