I watched about 10 minutes of the 4th on ESPN.com while doing other things. It seemed like a really good game to me. I’m not surprised people are calling it the game of the year since every other game I’ve tuned into has been terrible.

Yeah, what was the story with Jackson slipping so much? I just watched the highlights, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player fall down so much. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he was drinking and quarterbacking all at the same time!

I saw a number of players fall in addition to Jackson, so I wonder if the middle of the field was just in a crappy condition. You’d think if that was the case they would change cleats at halftime.

They don’t even need to wait till halftime. There are equipment guys on the sideline and carts full of gear. They could easily swap out during the next break in possession.

Ok, sure. But they didn’t! Inquiring minds want to know why.

TJ Watt ruins the Yinzer Christmas.

The people who make those must keep three dispensaries in business.

Not sure if anyone else here remembers but the Panthers had a string of this many years ago and it was the condition of the field, not cleats. It ended with a sod failure and replacement of everything not long afterward. The whole ordeal was also blamed for multiple injuries.

If course the wrong cleats for the turf can also be an issue, I guess.

Yeah, the in-jokes and references come fast and furious. These guys have a whole channel dedicated to pointing them out/explaining them.

haha, I can’t believe how much they pack into these. I always enjoy watching, but I get like 2%. It’s awesome that they make these “explainer” videos and that you shared this one, but even with the explanations (coming @ mile a minute), I would have to do some serious googling to actually be in the loop. I’m not complaining (although I’m sure it sounds like it) but just sort of astonished, I guess. What’s really impressive is that I am drawn to watching them, even though I don’t get all the jokes. That’s some serious firepower.

Keep ‘em comin’!

Having said which, there is a campaign to get Mack Hollins onto the Pro Bowl ballot started by… [checks notes]… oh.

Scheduling Note: Looks like there’s a game tonight on Fox. (Raiders vs Chargers)
And there’s two games on Saturday (!). One is only on NFLN (Bills vs Broncos)
But there is one Saturday night game on Fox. (Panthers vs Packers).

I want to watch both of the Saturday games, but don’t give a damn about tonights.

Groin pull alert!

The fake crowd is really impressed with that touchdown. I didn’t know they were allowed to a context sensitive crowd noise now.

As far as I know, the crowd noise on the broadcast is whatever the broadcast feels like doing. There is simulated crowd noise in the stadium itself that is regulated, however. (Why they bothered to do that and didn’t think to regulate different volumes for the team in possession is beyond me)

Game is tied at 24 with 6:16 left if someone wants to join in late.

These teams are not very special.

Yeah, the TV people seem determined to treat Herbert as the next coming of JesusQB. And the Chargers are what, 4-9? Seriously trying to hype a game nobody cares about.

I think Herbert might be all that.

I was referring to three badly missed FG and a horrible 19-yard punt at the end of the first half that led to a Charger TD.
