Dolphins twitterati/bloggers/podcasters and whatnot, meanwhile, think that Tua can score 14 points every possession if he wasn’t held back by his coaching staff. A Magic Touchdown Baby Jeebus in a manger.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Herbert is great for a rookie, has potential.

Tua is great for a rookie, has potential.

Lets see what happens a bit before we begin coronation proceedings.

Exactly my point.

Yeah, Sam Bradford was offensive ROY and never developed beyond that. If he could have avoided injury I think he would have been a good game-manager QB but I don’t think he was headed towards elite status.

Man, that award payed off big-time. How much money did he earn while bouncing around the league? 100 million just in contract payouts? google says:

1 overall pick in 2010 and then the general scarcity of NFL QB talent to land three contracts in nine years. He has earned almost $130 million despite a record of 34-48-1 as starter in those nine seasons.

Bradford was in the last college class before the new agreement between the NFLPA and owners was put in place to limit the amount first rounders could sign for. In other words, Bradford’s agent was able to get a huge contract for him before he ever played a down in the NFL. Yes, he did quite well for himself. That probably takes the sting out of underperforming expectations at the pro level.

Yep, half was from his original team(Rams), but the other half was from the other knuckleheads that signed him (Eagles, Vikings, and Cards)!

Bradford made $130M in his career. That’s 16th on the all-time list for QBs.

If you’re considered starter quality, and I think he was for most of his career, you’re going to get paid. He was just really lucky with that initial contract.

Of the current crop of 3rd year or less QBs, the only one I am bullish on is Murray. The rest I’m waiting to see. Darnold already seems to be dropping, Mayfield I think is heading toward being a decent game manager but no superstar, Jones is showing definite weaknesses. Herbert we can wait and see. Who am I overlooking?

Oh, Hurts. Just two games under his belt, right? So a long way from being able to evaluate.

You have Joe Burrow who looked good until his awful injury. We have to see how he comes back from that. If not for the injury I’d be all in on Burrow being elite or close to it.

Tua looks interesting. He already missed one game due to injury this year. He may be one of those injury-prone guys.

Drew Lock looks like he could develop. I’d say he’s a bit of a longshot at this point but he has some talent.

Josh Allen is in his third year and he’s having a great season. If he continues he’s headed for elite status.

Lamar Jackson qualifies. He’s in his third year. He had a great year last year. Not quite as good this year but the guy can play and puts a lot of pressure on a defense with his run ability.

From the meaningless stats department, Baker Mayfield’s overthrown Hail Mary at the end of Monday night’s first half was the longest pass through the air ever recorded at an NFL game. The Raven player running into the goalpost at the end added a bit of slapstick to the play:

Thanks for the additions.

Burrow, I am dubious given the injury, but I wish him the best of luck.
Tua I expect to be journeyman at best, and injury prone.
I have no idea who Drew Lock even is…
Josh Allen is top-flight, looks like. I have high hopes that the Bills actually, FINALLY, win a SB under him. 5th time is the charm!
I didn’t realize Jackson was 3rd year. He’s certainly good, but I am not convinced he will be top-tier. He has happy feet imo.

You can’t rule out Burrow due to an injury. He looked like he was on track for elite status before being hurt.

Tua I don’t think we’ve seen enough.

Drew Lock is the QB for Denver and has looked solid. Too early to tell if he will improve but he’s won some games as a starter.

Allen looks great. I’m a bit surprised because in college his completion percentage wasn’t that hot and that usually doesn’t improve a lot in the pros, but it has this year.

I think Jackson is fantastic. Guy was MVP last year. Led the NFL in touchdown passes last year and set the record for rushing yards by a QB. He may have happy feet, but those are some fantastic feet he has. And when the defense sees him break out of the pocket they react to that like he’s going to run, and some of his receivers come open. He’s a huge headache for defenses. The big question with him is if he can stay healthy.

We forgot Josh Rosen in that list.

Too soon.

Boy if Trubisky isn’t a total knob jockey, the Bears are just a better team than the Vikings. Jefferson can’t do it alone!

Also missing Eric Kendricks in the middle of the defense is just killing Minnesota here.

Dallas has been very impressive today. If they win today, I hope they make it to the playoffs with this team. They’re good. Andy Dalton is a good fit for them, I think, and their defense is doing great.

The Jets won a game? They beat the Rams?

2nd Sunday night game in a row without Al Michaels. I’m getting concerned. The new guy is fine for the normal banter with Collins worth, but he doesn’t get that same excitement in his voice on the play by plays that Al Michaels and Jim Nance are so good at doing.

The Dolphins won. The win eliminated the Patriots. The Texans lost and the Jets accidentally won a game.

This is a great sunday.

Delightful, isn’t it?
