Yeah, Lovie’s 63 years old. He may be thinking “Hey, if they want to pay me out the ass just to fire me in a year, I’m gonna make sure that I’m set for life, and so are my kids and grandkids.”

He might want to give Flores a percent or two as thanks.

I mean good for Lovie. I wish him well, and if it is a one year thing, I hope he retires and enjoys it.

I miss seeing Lovie and his majestic beard on the sidelines of Illinois games, even though he clearly didn’t have the skillset to be a good college coach. Of course, Illinois doesn’t really have the skillset to be a college football program, but I digress.

I hope he gets all the monies and peaces out somewhere nice.

I hope he negotiated a nice bonus for each loss.

I’m going to pay you to investigate me, and any future payments and employment hang in the balance

If Watson is allowed to play the Texans may not be terrible. The Dodger’s Bauer will not be prosecuted and so may be playing baseball soon, assuming they play baseball.

Its unlikely he will return to Houston at this point. The GM was asked about that a week or so ago when Brian Flores (who Watson seemed eager to play for in the past) was on the radar. He said it wasn’t an outcome he viewed as possible. I guess Smith could change viewpoints, and if they can’t get anything for him in trade that might also change the equation, but there continue to be reports that at least a few teams are willing to take a chance on Watson and give up some first round picks.

I’m not sure who that is at the moment, though. Miami is making a big deal about how their new head coach is there to coach up Tua. The Panthers are being attached strongly to taking a QB with their first round pick this year. Denver might make sense but only as a fallback if other things (like a trade for Rodgers) doesn’t pan out. The Giants, like Miami, are making it sound like they are happy at QB. So where Watson is traded to is an open question.

The NFL has come out and said they, not the team, will be hiring outside investigators now. Of course the league has kept the last investigation pretty private, so whether this means anything new will happen this time is an open question . . .

So both the team AND the league are hiring external investigators, but we don’t get the original report released? Riiiiiight.

They are pushing it out and hoping the hoopla dies down until we forget.

I did my due. I’m a member of the team subreddit and several there have posted contacts for all of the team’s advertisers and template wording to show your disgust with what’s going on. I sent tweets and emails as well. I doubt anything will come of it. but social change movements sometimes can move the needle.

The problem is that the league (ie, Goodell) works for the owners.

It’s why all the bad stuff from those million+ emails that leaked had absolutely nothing regarding Snyder, but they sure conveniently offered up Jon Gruden as the sacrificial lamb.

While I hope it doesn’t happen, Watson coming to Philly is still talked about a lot here.

Kendall Blanton, whom I don’t think ever caught more than 2-3 passes in a game at Mizzou, will start. He had a really nice game in the NFC Championship coming on when Higbee got hurt. (Blanton was behind Albert Okwegbunam on the depth chart back then, and usually used in two-TE sets.)

Happy for him to get his chance.

He did a real good job in that game.

Guess it’s time to kick this game discussion off

Still haven’t seen any football but I did just see a public service announcement warning people to avoid McDonalds lest they get stuck in line by unprepared and indecisive people.

Bengals win the coin toss. Rams get the ball first.

We really didn’t need The Rock for this. They’ve already done the anthem and flipped the coin. Just kick the damn ball off.
