Do the Bengals consider Samaje Perine their short yardage back? Because as a fan who only saw a few Cincy games this year, I sure would’ve rather have had Mixon on the field for the final drive and maybe not Perine.
How many great throws did Burrow have? There was that deep ball to Chase, but the highlight was more Chases’ incredible catch.
Also the TD, but that was all due to the refs not seeing the blatant facemask on the defender.
I just can’t think of any moments where Burrow carved the defense apart. He simply had no time, and the game plan was poor. Running directly into the teeth of a fresh Rams defense at the start of the game was bewildering.

I was struck by how many of the ads and even the halftime show were retro oriented. The halftime show usually is, but a lot of the ads featured actors and references that are fairly dated. Not only the Sopranos GM ad, but the Dr. Evil GM Ad, the Lindsey Lohan Planet Fitness ad, the Zach Braff/Donald Falson/Scrubs ad, etc…
Seriously, when was the last time The Cable Guy was a thing in the culture?
Right down to the halftime show, it felt like the GenX Super Bowl.
He hit a couple of nice deep outs where Ramsey tried to jump the pass and couldn’t. Including the first play of the final drive.
Nate Tice called this the best pass of the Super Bowl by either QB, I think on the Rams final TD drive. Pretty sweet work here:
Stafford locks in on Hopkins (88) and forces Vonn Bell (24) to move two steps over…then drills that strike to Kupp.

About 6 months after release, when I was in grade school.
Refs apparently saw this and just didn’t think it was enough of a grab.
“If there’s just a rake across the facemask, where there’s not a twist and turn even if there’s a grab, there is no foul. The officials did not see any contact that rose to the level of a foul for a 15-yard facemask.”
Damn, I get missing things and assumed that the ref just didn’t see it since he was behind the receiver and blocked. But apparently they did see it and just decided to double-down at the press conference as it be totally ok to have an opponent grab your mask and twist your head to throw you off balance. Even if LA had lost it wouldn’t have been ‘the reason’ but how do you see this and defend not calling it?

I saw that quote and remain confused. I think they may be saying they saw the hand on the mask but didn’t see the movement so they didn’t call it. It’s pretty obvious in the replay that it impacted the play. I do think we would be talking a lot more about it if the Rams had lost, though. So even though that holding call against the Bengals late in the game was too tacky, it kinda made up for the mistake earlier.
To be honest, I sometimes wonder how that karma balance happens as often as it does in the NFL. If I were more of a conspiracy theorist I would suggest something is going on between the refs and their bosses in New York.
That makes sense except that I don’t see how they didn’t see movement. It was pretty obvious even from the initial quick realtime shot that the grab turned the head. Which is why I just assumed the answer would be ‘we didn’t see it at all’, not '“We saw it, but the head suddenly turning in the wrong direction and launching the player totally out of the play just didn’t have any effect and was somehow the defenders fault/choice.”

Agreed.
That was a badly missed call. There is clear indication on the replay that the facemask pulled the defender off course so the WR could make the play.
At game speed it is difficult often to make those calls, and they have made PI calls non reviewable. This was the decision made in 2020.
But… even at full speed.
Higgins is running full speed while Ramsay is falling down. Something happened clearly to stop the defender. Honestly, I thought at full speed Ramsay tripped. Surprised they didn’t throw a flag, look into it, and then make the call, or pick up the flag saying “there is no penalty on the play”.
The ref was RIGHT there too, but they were facing the wrong way for him to see the facemask clearly.
Didn’t change the outcome of the game though, so it will be forgotten in a month.
So uh. Gen X-er here. I know Eminem and Snoop, and I assume the guy in the middle is Dre. Who are the two guys in the back and the woman?
I’m not really a rap guy. I listened to a bit of Eminem.
Kendrick Lamar (who is considerably younger than the rest and not Gen X, but a major figure in rap), and 50 Cent, who is more like $1.50 now.

Given inflation he should have come on after the third quarter.
The gorgeous (and talented!) Mary J. Blige.
The hilarious thing about 50’s entrance is that he’s hanging upside down singing the song, which is how the music video goes. Except that the music video is “hey, just take this footage of him and flip it upside down.”
Whereas he actually had to hang upside down on live TV and sing, and that just looked really uncomfortable, especially for a dude nearing 50. All the blood was rushing to his head.
Simple. The people in charge of making that content are in that age bracket. And people from that age bracket love love love to go back to the 80’s and 90’s. The Cable Guy was an odd one to go back to. Nobody really cared that much about that movie, but whatever.
