PLEASE GOD MAKE IT SO THAT DAN SNYDER DID THIS TOO.
Prime Video has been advertising last few days that they have Thursday Night Football, which yeah, of course they do, but the season is over so it seemed a strange time to be advertising on their app on the lead-up to the super bowl.
And then I saw a couple of headlines last week that finally made it click into place.
Oh right. Next season they will be the ONLY place broadcasting Thursday Night Football. You’ll have to get Prime Video if you want to see Thursday Night games next season.
Does Prime TNF still have the commercials?
From your mouth to God’s ears!

It’s not quite that simple. I would hope that the people making the content also have very strong data that shows that the people watching the Superbowl are also in that age bracket, or it’s a minimum of $7 million per 30-second ad wasted.

I don’t doubt the reporting, but I doubt the punishment would actually happen.
The NFL always finds some way to protect the owners.

And again I will link the Jerry Richardson saga that happened here in Charlotte. And I’m honestly linking it because this is my hope against Dan Snyder in Washington. I hope that there will continue to be an uproar and pushback against the NFL that they do pull the trigger. Hell, it didn’t even take women telling their stories in front of Congress for this to happen to Jerry. But at some point the NFL does indeed have a limit and I think they pushed Richardson to this. I do not think for a moment he had some clarity and did it for the better of the organization or some other such baloney. I think someone gave him a call and said, you do it or we force you to do it.
Yeah, a major problem here is that the NFL has officially embraced sports betting and has a partnership with a major sports betting firm.
An owner paying a coach to throw games is opening the NFL up to all sorts of lawsuits and criminal complaints. Stephen Ross has invested in gambling companies, to boot. It’s a really bad look for the league.
Looks like it was confirmed OBJ tore his ACL.

Ouch. And that’s the same knee and injury as before. AND he’s about to become a free agent unless they approach him to sign again.
He gets a ring but man that’s a hard thing to happen to the guy.

There will still have local OTA TV broadcasts for the teams involved, so ONLY isn’t quite accurate. But yes, that will be TNF’s home for most going forward. They may also shake up the announcing world a bit. Al Michaels is basically being let go by NBC, who thinks a Tirico/Collinsworth combo is the future for SNF and most people think Michaels will end up on TNF. It also looks like they are making a run at Aikman, who is still talking with Fox.
Yes, the local teams always get an OTA TV/Cable broadcast.
If they get Al Michaels, that’s a great get. Pair him up with Aikman? That does sound pretty good. Would I get Prime just for that?
I’m not sure. Maybe. And I surprise myself with that answer. The commentators are a huge part of the pull for me.
The buzz out there is that the NFL’s own investigation of the Washington Commanders (nee Redskins) has turned over some rocks that are likely to make it tough for Snyder to retain his ownership role as well.

Keep bringing me that good news, Trig. I mean, just based on the women that talked to congress and the other employees who came forward to WaPo, there is a ton of info out there. No need to even kick up rocks.

Ah yes, because clearly Michaels is the one to let go from that combo, I mean, who doesn’t love Collinsworth.
He gets lots of love from the hometown fans!

One thing that annoyed me during the Super Bowl was that pair brought up Brady, twice, during the broadcast. Someone not even there and most of us are happy not to hear that name during a Super Bowl. And I could have sworn it was Collinsworth who did it, both times.
Burrow never quite looked the same after he got twisted
“most of us”? Do most of us even care either way?
I mean, you can sort of see why the name of the QB who has started more Super Bowls than any other – including winning the one from the previous year – and who just retired as perhaps the most successful QB in NFL history might come up in the game in the course of discussion, right?
(And I say this as someone who is pretty indifferent to Tom Brady.)

Sorry, I should have explained more. Collinsworth is something of a Brady fanboy. Enough so it’s a meme …

etc … etc.
I just thought that finally, after multiple Tom Brady Super Bowls that we wouldn’t have to continue to hear it brought up. I was wrong.
