Correct, they are (sadly) out.
Time to play GM:
Since the beginning of December, Rashad Penny (who had a major knee injury that cost him nearly two years and numerous other small injuries in his first four years) :
102 carries for 706 yards and 6 TDs
Most of those carries were against bottom-tier defenses, but he had the most yards above expected in the league in recent weeks and averaged over 8 ypc against the cardinals with a bad Oline missing their starting RG and RT.
Are you willing to throw a big contact at this guy hoping to get the shiny Penny of the last couple of months, rather than the bad Penny from most of his career?

I vote ‘regression toward the mean’.
Throwing big money at the RB position hasn’t generally been a worthwhile proposition, though maybe that’s just my Niner mindset where “running back by committee” (injury-enforced or otherwise) seems to get the job done… :)
Not in recent years, no.
Adrian Peterson has had a huge influence on him. My hope is the Seahawks can lock up Peterson, as either a player or coach, then sign Penny to an incentive-laden deal with modest guaranteed money.
But I asked, because I’m curious how the rest of the league will view him.
The Colts sent a #1 draft pick to Philadelphia for Carson Wentz.
Philadelphia will make the playoffs, with their QB of the future.
The Colts will miss the playoffs, won’t have a #1 in next year’s draft, and have a QB who I’m not sure they can trust in the slightest.
5 Pro Bowlers on that team, too. The most ever on a non-playoff NFL team.
Yikes.

According to Next Gen Stats, the 49ers had just a 0.4% chance of winning after punting with 1:57 remaining in the game. In order to come back and win, the 49ers had to:
- Force a three-and-out
- Score a TD without any timeouts
- Prevent the Rams from scoring in regulation
- Win in OT
0.4% represents the lowest minimum win probability of any team to eventually win a game in the NGS era (ie 2016+), including the famous Miami Miracle (0.7%) and Super Bowl LI (NE 0.8%).
And in the end it made no difference to the Rams, though a huge difference to the Niners.

Yeah, I don’t think Stafford attempts the intercepted pass if he didn’t already know the Cards had lost.
Wow, another crazy PI call in the Raiders game. Just gave them a TD on a pass Carr was simply throwing away.
This is not a sentence I expected anyone to write about a team they support in 2022.
Thomas is a rookie who has been getting better and better the second half of the season. And he played that route pretty darn well.
Yeah, complete bullshit. I am not a conspiracy nut but damn, sometimes it seems like the zebras are intent on deciding a game.

Looks like one of the refs put a few thousand on the Raiders at Cesars before the game
The last few minutes have been very good for the Chargers. They might complete their comeback here and send this to overtime.
Edit: I still can’t believe they got the touchdown on 4th and 21.

That’s true, he has been much improved over the course of the season, and, as a rookie, I’m willing to cut him a lot of slack.
It’s just that the corners as a group are woeful by NFL-standards, though I’ll admit that today’s game was probably one of their best, collectively.
Hopefully Josh Norman will be on his way during the off-season and we can address the secondary in the draft. It would help if Jimmy G lights it up in the playoffs and we get a first rounder for him! :)
Dear god, it’s going to go to OT.
Both teams still get in with a tie. They should take knees in the extra period and rest up for Wild Card weekend.
Today is the day Justin Herbert truly became the president.
JFC, what a drive. The Steelers are teething on their terrible towels right now.
