They actually fired the GM! Hallelujah!
Reporting/speculation around local media was that they were considering sending him to a nice executive job in a farm upstate, which always felt super weird and terrible to me. If this is a clean break, I am 100% on board.
Bears also let GM Ryan Pace go. He’ll always be the guy who made THAT draft day trade.
The Harbaugh-to-Miami rumors just exploded. Miami’s owner is a Michigan alum.
Dave Gettelman retires as Giants GM.
Joe Judge apparently still employed, even after running that atrocious QB dive play trailing by more than a TD against a division rival in a game with no playoff implications.

I’m only a little bit surprised. Flores may be a good defensive mind but he couldn’t ever figure out who he wanted to run the offense. In his three years he changed OC’s every year. That doesn’t do anything good if you are trying to develop a young QB. Throw in never actually making the playoffs and it falls into place.

Ross specifically said he won’t go after Harbaugh. If Harbaugh goes anywhere, my guess is Vegas but even that will depend on how things go. To be honest, I don’t think Harbaugh wants to leave Michigan, I think he’s just letting the story leak that he has interest to restore the contract that was changed a few years ago where he lost money.

It’s the Giants so I’m not taking anything off the table, but I would imagine whoever they bring in as GM will replace him. That said, I could also see them just promoting Joe Judge to Head Coach/GM.
It is a little surprising to see a GM actually stock up draft picks for the organization on his way out. At least whoever comes in will have some positives to work with.

I have read a bunch of stuff about why Harbaugh would want to leave. One of the big reasons is that the NCAA is so imbalanced by the SEC’s recruiting advantages. He felt he had a great team, he even called it one of the best ever at Michigan and then he got his ass kicked by Georgia. That was a wake up call. There are some who are saying he feels that he can not take this program higher under the current status quo. This is why Kelly left Notre Dame for the SEC. I have no idea what Harbaugh plans to do but it wouldn’t shock me a bit if he bolted for the pros.

I mean, from all accounts he was one of the few college coaches to be successful in the NFL, he turned the 49’ers into a contender, but ended his career with a meh season. It sounds like the players really liked him as well, the reason for him leaving was some power struggle BS with the ownership.
Maybe I have some residual respect for him as a coach as his Kaepernick led Niners made a very good Packers team look like a joke that one year, but I think the overall sentiment is that he would make a good NFL coach (unlike a lot of college coaches)

As a Chiefs fan I was pulling for the Raiders. We beat the Chargers and Mahomes drove three straight 75 yard drives at the end when he had to to win, while Herbert was unable to make the drive he needed to get in field goal range to win in regulation, but I would much rather face Rothelsburger (not gonna take the time to look how to spell it correctly) and Carr than Herbert in the playoffs. Especially since we crushed the Steelers bad enough a few games ago that we sat Mahomes in the 4th and crushed the Raiders twice.
Of course - it’s the playoffs. And we played like crap against Denver.

Even though the internet can be a wretched hive of scum and villainy, things like this make it all worth it.
Giants fans won’t have Joe Judge to call QB sneaks out of a loaded backfield in meaningless games anymore. He gone.
Geno Smith was arrested for a DUI, thus continuing the trend with backup QBs in Seattle.
Great excuse to bring in Minshew
I’ve been a Dolphins fan since I was a small child. This season has been the crowning glory to two decades of incompetent management. Not that Flores is that good, but we’ve not had a coach last 4 full seasons in the 21st century. What coach worth a darn is going to want to be part of this mess? I also hope Tua turns out to be good and then refuses to re-sign with this team because of how he was treated this season. Ugh.

How Tua was treated is a good reason for them to move on from Flores. 4 OC’s in three years? Sure, that’s how you build an offense.
With the right hire they can turn things around quickly. There is plenty of talent. If they want they can even go after whatever big name QB’s pop up on the trade market. There are a number of worse situations.
I find it hard to believe Flores was solely responsible for that.

Could be worse, at least they’re not the Panthers.
Well, Tua is about as good as Bortles, so maybe talk about the Jags instead?
