So were you a Packers fan or a Rodgers fan? I can see the answer to that making a difference.
I think Barry Bonds is an ass. I am a Dodger fan. But I respect the Giants for winning those WS after Barry.
I think you can love your team without loving everything about it.
Or maybe you never were a Packer fan but merely a Rodgers fan.

I’ve softened on Rodgers because shortly after his thing came out the FDA approved the treatment he had gotten as an alternative for people who had medical issues with the shots. Rodgers claimed he was allergic to the shots. The NFL never penalized Rodgers for not being technically vaccinated, which means someone signed off on what he was doing. I think its possible we don’t know everything about Rodgers’ health, something that may have played into his draft fall, though that is speculation on my part.
He shouldn’t have gone on Joe Rogan, obviously,
I went to Cal (pre-Rodgers/Tedford), so I was a Rodgers fan (and a 49ers fan, so there’s Alex Smith tied up in all that, too).
Also a Giants fan. Barry Bonds made me stop watching baseball, took years to re-cultivate an interest.
On the other other hand, 'roids and all, it was pretty amazing how Bonds could see exactly one pitch in the strike zone all game, and hit it out. He should have been a (drug-free) Hall of Famer and one of the best hitters ever.
One of the Chiefs key defense player Gay was arrested last night according to my local NPR station. They’re still waiting on more details.
Seems unlikely: COVID-19 and “Alternative” Treatments: What You Need To Know
[edit - I found this, but I cannot find any reference that this is what Rodgers meant by his “immunized” statement - plus, you know, he actually caught COVID so he wasn’t ‘immune’]
One does also wonder why someone would be so skeptical of a vaccine, yet accept an EUA preventative treatment. Oh wait, no I don’t wonder about that after all.

I think Rodgers and another player were both fined at the same time. Not for failure to get the shots but for violating protocol if they had not received the shots.
That is the shame of the whole thing. He probably was on his way to the HoF anyway but his ego wouldn’t let him allow others to surpass him. No hitter in my lifetime has received the respect at the plate he did during his roid days.
It used to irk me, though, that he was practically in body armor at the plate and crowded the plate so much. I swear his elbows often hung out over the plate as he waited for a pitch. You couldn’t work the outside corner against him because it really wasn’t an outside corner. The body armor let him be impervious to being hit by a pitch.

That is the news I was referring to. Rodgers claimed he received an experimental treatment along these lines and was allergic to something in the standard shots. Again, the NFL never penalized him for walking around without a mask at press conferences or other things clear unvaxed protocol violations, which means either the NFL or the Packers accepted his treatments as being a legitimate alternative to being vaccinated. Sure, a doctor could have lied to them about everything, but the other possibility is that Rodgers actually qualifies. He keeps his private life very private for the most part and it would not surprise me if he has a medical condition we know nothing about. It is at least a possibility. He and another Packers player were penalized relatively small sums for having a Halloween party, IIRC.
The other thing that I also consider is that Rodgers had the bad luck of getting Covid before the NFL threw out all their rules. Carson Wentz is also unvaxed but because they changed the rules he didn’t miss a game. Rodgers would have likely played against KC under those rules. We are holding Rodgers more responsible then Wentz because he missed a game and because of the Rogan interview, which as I’ve said, was a big mistake.

Yeah, I would believe Rodger’s medical reason for not taking a vaccination a lot more if he hadn’t decided to double and triple down on his BS and rant about ‘cancel culture’ and say that he took medical advice from his good friend “Joe Rogan” who is a known un-scientific vaccine skeptic.
It makes it very hard to think that Rodgers had a legitimate excuse when he becomes buddy buddy with those hawking very illegitimate views and treatments.

Then why did the NFL let him slide on whatever treatment he did supposedly get? I mean it’s one thing if he’s vaccine skeptic, but he still had to get some fairly legit doctor to sign off on what he did and it had to convince the NFL’s doctors that he had a legit reason to go that route. That’s why I wonder if there is something we don’t know about his case and am willing to give him a partial pass. Otherwise you are into conspiracy theories about quack doctors or the NFL giving him superstar treatment.
It’s just barely possible that the NFL has a different set of rules for Aaron Rodgers then for Joe Leftguard.

Well, the NFL says it was the Packer’s responsibility to enforce Covid rules, and the Packers say it is the NFL’s responsibility to set Covid rules.
To me, it feels like they basically are both saying it is the other sides fault, and nobody is taking any responsibility, because it has all blown over.
I am a Packers fan, and up until this fall, was very much an Aaron Rodgers fan, sure he was a bit Diva-y, but he also was very good at his job, so maybe he should get more of a say.
He lost me forever with his comments over this. He intentionally misled reporters over his vaccination status. Period. He didn’t own up to this until he was found out. He is a liar.

The NFL’s doctors rejected his appeal. I’m not sure where you’re getting your facts on this situation but they are not accurate.

I’m guessing that since the NFL let him play, Sarkus is assuming that it was with full approval. The thing is, in the Rodgers case, they put the onus of accountability on the Packers organization and let them take the big financial hit. They didn’t want to give Rodgers anything more than a slap on the wrist so they publicly smacked the Packers organization and hoped the rest would just blow over. Did you think they were going to slap a major suspension on the previous season’s MVP during what looked to be another potential MVP season? It doesn’t take a tin foil hat to help grasp the concept that preferential treatment from the NFL towards their golden boy QBs is pretty much always on the table.

The Packers were fined $300k and Rodgers and Lazard were each fined $14k.
Lol I bet they sent a sternly worded letter too.

Unvaccinated players were/are all allowed to play. The fact that Rogers played doesn’t mean that the NFL approved of his ‘alternative treatment’. They very specifically denied it.
I’m the last person to defend the N-Fing-L as being on the level, but in this case Rogers very clearly both misled people at the time (which he acknowledged) and a bunch of people are making up and parroting a bunch of lies about the circumstances.
You don’t have to make up stuff to make the NFL look bad. That’s like 75% of that they do.

I believe that second story did lead to changes.
